Which is a better/safer way to do things? Using a reseller account? Or have a dedicated server with someone else (ex. GoDaddy)? Or does it not really matter?

for starting, you can go with small reseller package, then upgrade to larger, or dedicated server when having customers enough. Make sure to search about the provider before ordering

Both are good. Dedicated if You are More Experienced.

Go for a reseller account if you are just starting out then when you know a little bit about everything go for a dedicated server. :)

I would also have to say reseller -- starting out with a deticated is too costly for someone new in the industry

Reseller or VPS when starting, and then dedicated. That's how it usually works, and that usually makes the most sense, unless you're experienced, but even then I would still choose a reseller/vps.

If You dont want to become a Reseller, You can start off with vps or 1 Dedicated Server and then as you get more clients, you can get more servers.

I started with a reseller, and we are looking into getting a dedicated server pretty soon, more freedom and also means you can be your own host

Is it easy to move your sites+accounts from reseller account to dedicated?.. I already have a dedicated server & a reseller account.

Thought of moving the reseller thing to another dedicated. How is it generally done?

I know if it is with cPanel on both servers, you can just use the transfer feature in WHM and just move the site that way. If it's another control panel, I'm not sure if there are similar features, but you may want to check the manual for the CP and see if there is an equivalent (or wait for some more replies ;))

Personally I would start off with a reseller since it is cheaper and as you grow get a dedicated server so then you can start offering more services and such. This will also be a lot cheaper if you start out with a reseller rather than a dedicated server which you most likly will be paying $100+ a month for.
