One of my clients is launching a website today..oo..oo! http://status.mchost.com TY grandad 05-14-2002, 04:39 PM Looks down to me - no MCHost.com and no forum. bambi 05-14-2002, 04:46 PM    mhuerta 05-14-2002, 04:51 PM This is not good at al, guess I will have to re-think hosting with them. I wonder how long will it take them to get it back up ????? WebSnail.net 05-14-2002, 04:54 PM They are aware of the problem and are working on it... The problem appears to be affecting BURST servers only... EDIT: Just got news that apparently the NOC are doing some network upgrades... demonet 05-14-2002, 04:54 PM Wow Still down and its 3:47pm now ? or are the times wack on this forum :D WebSnail.net 05-14-2002, 04:58 PM It's now back up... For future reference there's a forum now up on http://www.allthefaqs.net with a board specifically for old and existing MCHost crew. If the forums at MChost go down you can always use that to speak to each other and may'be find out what's going on. Cheers ;) UktopHost 05-14-2002, 05:25 PM Hi, We are having other probs with MC Host tonight. We have had News Pro (Coranto) installed for ages on a few of ourd omains. Tonight I get an "Internal 500 message". I sent a support ticket and was told that its because you can only use CGI Scripts in the CGI-Bin. So we moved all the files into their and it worked fine. When we changed the CHMOD to writeable (777 or 666) We got the same message. Is anyone else getting this message with their scripts?. David Grizzie 05-14-2002, 05:31 PM you appear to be confusing WHT with MCHost's helpdesk and customer forums. you'll probably get a better response if you post questions to them there. xirus 05-14-2002, 09:33 PM Yeah, they sent out an email about network probs earlier today for about 20 minutes (was only on one of my accounts in their old data center, the new was up). SolSec 05-14-2002, 11:44 PM Can someone please post the message they sent out. I havnt received anything and can not access their forums for more than 10 seconds at a time either. If I remember correctly they never added Fiji to the status list. Before someone says Fiji isnt having problems, trust me it is. cyansmoker 05-15-2002, 12:03 AM Originally posted by UktopHost Hi, We are having other probs with MC Host tonight. David David, like others pointed out this isn't the mchost support forum. However, you should know that making your scripts writable probably explains why your files cannot be executed anymore. since suexec will consider them to be a security risk. SolSec 05-15-2002, 12:28 AM Chris, their support forum is timing out badly and inaccessible for most people as is their helpdesk. This is the only place where we can find out what is going on for now. No one is forcing you to read this thread. But for the people affected by these problems it is a lifeline, do not cut it off. David your problem I think concerns MCHost's recent enabling of suexc (I spelt that wrong) that prevents any files being chmoded 777. Chmod them instead to 755 and the script should work as its suppossed to. wmac 05-15-2002, 10:20 AM Originally posted by WebSnail.net It's now back up... Or you are going to advertise? :) WebSnail.net 05-15-2002, 10:26 AM Originally posted by wmac Forums   Websnail, These are forums? Or you are going to advertise? :) Was waiting for that ;) The difference here is that Host bashing is considered a sport :) I'm in the process of growing slightly and moving on to a semi-dedicated system elsewhere mainly because MCHost didn't get any new servers together while I was there. So, because the rule is that you lose your MC forum access when you leave and because I made a lot of quality contacts on MCForums I figured an alternative was in order to help those interested to stay in touch... It's not a commercial venture anyway (well not the forum part anyways) so it's not quite advertising, merely pointing out that there is somewhere else that MC customers, old and new, now congregate is all.. Oh and the MC section it's not publicly available anyway... So's you know... Hope that clears me of any nefarious underhand trickery :D |
