View Full Version : list of budget resellers w/comments
brochris 03-25-2006, 07:18 PM I've done a lot of research on these forums and at hostsearch.com for several days (with barely any sleep), and came up with this list that I'm choosing from. I'm looking for a budget reseller account. I'll most likely go with resellerzoom.com, but wanted to get any last minute advise.
Livehost.net - relatively new (2004), but has many very good reviews here and at hostsearch.com
Deasoft.com - aside from having many specials every month, there really isn't much info on them
My-e-space.com - new host (2005), not much info on them
Hostww.net - relatively new (2004), not much info on them
Allreseller.net - new host (2005), no live support, only via email. can upgrade bandwidth to 30 GB for another $23
Theprimehost.com - excellent ratings @ hostsearch.com, but not many reviews
Resellerzoom.com - relatively new (2004), but has an excellent reputation. Budget one plan seems to have more limited cpu resources
Varhosting.net - very controversial - seems okay, but has many complaints. Used to be tripodhosting / tripodsupport
247-host.com - relatively new (2004), not many reviews of them here
Swelly 03-26-2006, 04:20 AM You have listed pretty good providers in the above list. If this is what you have narrowed it down to, you should shorten your list to the top 3, then narrow that down to 1. Which ever is best for you and your needs for your web presence, thats the one you pick.
Out of that list I would say MY top three choices would be
1. ResellerZoom
2. My-e-space.com
3. LiveHost
That is just what I would choose, read actual reviews on all the providers you have selected and narrow it down to YOUR three best. Good luck!
KGIII 03-26-2006, 06:57 AM I'm with allreseller.com... I am still with them if that's any indication? If there was a problem that was major then I'd bail out. True, no live support but supports always been good and I'll take that any day.

andria 03-26-2006, 05:23 PM i have recent experience with 2 of those companies.
1) right now i have a budget account with resellerzoom.com.
support is great, very fast responce, pretty accurate too.
DOWNSIDE - budget servers are pretty loaded, if not to say overloaded. (average server load is very often over or just at 4 out 4 CPUs. have also seen red light flashing with server load at 16 :) running cms/mysql is therefore not pretty good, but still could be done. whatever, for that money there is simply nothing better out there!
2) varhosting (!) :puke: i was signed up with their uk-service (bungeecode.com) which is being owned, run and operated by the same people, same techs which run VARhosting.
IT WAS THE MOST BIZZARE hosting experience i have had in 6 years of hosting!
i have put my experience in other thread, if you care, you can read it at
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=472875
i have quoted most of "support" issues i have had... and my conclusion is that they are a monkey business, stay away from them!
------
nevertheless, i can wormly recommend you hostgator.com
pretty nice service, good support. fair price.
i think iŽd rather go with resellerzoom (if you cant afford the advanced plan, go with a budget one) than hostgator.com because RZ just moved to NAC datacenter which seems to be top of the notch!
my 2 cent$ and good luck!
KnownHost 03-26-2006, 05:36 PM I didn't hear of 1/2 of the Resellers you listed above other then Hostgator. lol
Some have had some reviews of late so be careful and search and ask them questions to test if they are actually around. Send an email or chat on their website and this shows the "true" colors. That is the luxury of being a customer, you are always right and can ask whatever you please. :)

ldcdc 03-26-2006, 08:42 PM As you noted, there's rather limited feedback on some of those hosts. Even though some say "no news is usually good news", I'm one who prefers to read quite a bit of news before judging a host. The less news, the more the situation resembles choosing a lottery ticket. :)

lcd,
but where else to get info on those companies than here? there is a bunch of "hosting" forums out there (like a millionn of them), but most of them are just fakes or they push up the most paying one.
there are actually a few honest forums too, but beside them, WHT is supposed to be #1 place IMHO?
"the good news is, there are no news" :)
ldcdc 03-26-2006, 09:25 PM but where else to get info on those companies than here?Well, yes, the best place is here, but a few other bigger forums (webmaster forums, hosting forums) can help a bit too. Then there's the option of getting that lottery ticket, hoping the moneyback guarantee is actually worth anything. :)
brochris 03-26-2006, 09:42 PM Well, I think I've shifted from liking resellerzoom the most to allreseller. If I went with resellerzoom, it would have been with their budget one plan, which everyone says is sluggish when it comes to server side scripting (which I do a lot of). I'll probably sign up with allreseller tomorrow.
Thanks for all your help!
