right now i already am planning to accept paypal as a method of payment, i would also like to accept credit cards. i have been loooking at some authorize.net resellers, the pricing on some of them are good, the thing is i have trouble understanding all of it all the way. i feel like i might go into it and have a bunch of extra fees get secretly slid onto my bill if i go that route.

paypal on the other hand has the credit card thnig for 20 bux a month plus 2.2% of the order. which is slightly more expensive but i understand it and it would also help keep stuff simple.

im just having trouble deciding what i should do for this.

PayPal processes credit cards for free, the only thing that costs extra (on top of their regular fees for premium and business accounts) is the "website payments pro", which I can't fathom a use for.
I'm a huge paypal fan becuase of its simplicity and its power.

the thing im thinking about is i hear most people want to just put in their credit card directly into the website (makes your company look bigger and stuff too I guess) do you feel like you ever get any of these problems?

You get more sales when you have a merchant account and people can just enter their credit card info but if your just getting started you will have to pay about $25/mo in fees if you sell anything or not with a merchant account.

If you are in the United States and doing more than $1,000 a month, consider a merchant account with an electronic payment gateway or possibly Paypal Payments pro.
