Hi

My friend wants to start selling stuff on the internet but not over eBay.
Instead he wants to sell directly on his own website. Initially, a shared host would do. If it sells well online then he'll go for a VPS or a dedicated.

I initially told him osCommerce but I just found out that none of the payments gateways are useful here in India. And since he is going to be selling it online for indian customers some payment gateway valid in India is required. ICICI (Payseal) (http://www.payseal.com/), CCAvenue (http://www.ccavenue.com/ccavenue_index.jsp) or Transecute (http://www.transecute.com/) are good ones but which e-Commerce app uses any of these ?

Also, since my friend has no idea of php, MySQL, Apache, SSL, Cpanel etc etc it'll be tough for him to get this started.

Are there any hosts out there that are premade for e-Commerce ? Like, maybe a hosts uses one of its servers for eComerce alone ?

Please advice.

Thanks

You can get a custom checkout (payment processor) module created for oscommerce to support ccavenue and or payseal. I strongly advise that you do not choose Transecute as a processor as they have a deplorable reputation. OScommerce supports 2checkout, 2checkout accepts merchants from India.

Anjanesh,

What is product that your friend wishes to sell?

Be sure to check out 2checkout TOS before investing. They do now allow selling so some Products. Check out link https://www2.2checkout.com/documentation/prohibited.html for this.

You can also check out http://www.flashwebhost.com/ecommerce.php. They do provide paypal and 2checkout.com.

But do some research before investing in any of the host.

Doesnt DirectI use Transecute for domain-selling processing ? I've never bought over DirectI using CC but I've assumed Transecute was good because of DirectI uses it for CC processing.
