So, I'm reading a music ad the other day, and there's a local guy that's posting, saying he's a drummer looking to join or form a band. His ad starts with this:

"my name is rocky slaughter I am a very experienced drummer and have been playing"

Rocky Slaughter? *LOL* Anyway, I thought it was funny, and I'm sure it's his real name too. Heh. (someone forgot the 80's are over).

:D
Geeze, how'd it be to have a name like that :(

I guess it suits the whole 'badass' image though. Actually, it sounds kinda cheap.

'Take That' were a 90's boy band :D

Sadly all my 80's vinyl got turned into Industial CD's so it's a strain to remember the good stuff.

'Judas Priest' and 'Accept' spring to mind as particularly '80's'

Hmm, of course legends of the era 'Sigue Sigue Sputnik' - electronica, but those boys has some taste in fashion, whatever planet they came from

"Twisted Sister"

Now there was a group with their heads on straight. In an Interview with the Band, when asked what their goals were for the group, the Leader of the group replied, "We're just in for the money. Should take about 2 -3 years to make what we want and then we're out."

To my knowledge, that's exactly what the group did.

There was a '70s/'80s bar band in the DC area (Maryland) with the "Free Beer". GREAT name!

I always wanted to form a band called Spastic Gonads. Alas, I have no talent.

One name I always liked was Hot Tuna. They were formed from a Jefferson Airplane core. The original name was Hot Sh*t but the record company nixed this for [obvious] commercial reasons. The band came up with the name Hot Tuna as a replacement.

Other names I like:
Ambergris (for some reason the album had a chicken on the cover)
Led Zeppelin
Guns 'n Roses (interesting name)

It scares me to this day that I know this, but the band 'Steely Dan' is named after a vibrator.

Twisted Sister was pretty cool :) Last thing I heard Dee Snider (the lead singer) produced or directed horror movies now... no real suprise there I suppose after waking up to his reflection every day.
