I'm sure that I am not teh only person who finds themselves asking this question. I don't really know where to start, who to ask, and what begin doing. I'm new at this whole reseller concept, so if you have any input what so ever please reply.

Thanks

Try hosting directories, get a few hundred bucks for advertising and you will get usually good results.

I use a very short skirt and fishnets....ohhhhh, hosting clients...ahhh. You're entering a crowded market, best bet is to find an appeal with some niche crowd and market to them via word of mouth or small ads in pertinent mags

I should try that. The pockets full of candy I've been using just doesn't cut it anymore.

It's a tough gig no matter which way you slice it. It's a very full market and very much in the buyers court. The only real two options are to undercut everyone which should have you back at your old job in no time, or provide something that sticks out in the crowd. The latter is a wise choice, but again not an easy hill to climb. Starting out make's it very hard, though you may want to consider looking out your windows at your local area. It's a lot easier to be heard by thinking small than to try to take on the world all at once.

Local computer groups, charities, small business? Maybe work out a deal with a local dialup provider if there's some small ones about.

How do I attract Potential clients

Well if you're completely new, canvassing the local scene with some business cards and flyers is always a good idea. Make sure anyone and everyone in your local community knows about you. Typically it's best if you hit the streets and do this introduction on a personal level. Have some pre-planned "special offer" setup and ready to go as you'll get a lot of bargain seekers.

Online, it's best to pick a specific target or niche (as has already been mentioned). Too many other players in this business to become a generalist. Focus on a specific niche market and it will work much better for you.

Joe

Getting referals is the best way... Get a few customers anyway you can.. Ask them to refer.. It works.. seems needy but we get not only new customers this way but Good solid customers.

We gave away the first 10 or so accounts to people we knew and it exploded from there.

If you have a small town newspaper offer a FREE 6 months of hosting for the first 25 customers that sign up for a year or something like that... Oh wait... what city do you live in? maybe I take that back. :D

If that does not work, since I don't know your $$ budget, you might go ahead and try the fishnets.
