Thought I'd share more of my troubles with ace-host.net (ACENET INC).

Last year I had trouble with their hosting, so I left. I had paid for a year but due to my trouble I felt I needed to leave. Search my old posts for details on troubles.

The money I lost I wrote off as a learning experience. I paid $80 and learned never to deal with Acenet INC again.

So whats new?

I just recieved a notice that I will be billed (kind of an auto renew).
The problem is they CANCELLED ALL my services last year. I can't login to cpanel, ftp, ssh, smtp, and pop. Their server doesn't respond to request for my domain any more.

So they plan on billing me for NO service.

I contacted them today and cancelled the billing.

There are ALLOT of bad reviews on them; I just suggest that people stay away from them.

Yes, any company that runs loosly organized like that people need to stay away from! We hosting folks call them "basement hosts". :)

Did you receive any sort of confirmation from the billing department regarding your cancellation when you cancelled your account last year?

They pissed me off when they made me jump through hoops for SSH access (I had to fax my drivers license to them) and then arbitrarily decided to eliminate SSH access less than a week later.

Personally, I think it was dangerous to offer on shared hosting to begin with, but since they did I was taking advantage of it.

Flip side: I usually get a response to trouble tickets in fifteen minutes or less. Compare that to Spry where I'm paying $40/mo for a VPS and I can go literally days without getting a response. Average response time from them is two days. I'm on the forum today trying to figure out where I'm going to move the five sites I have with them.

No plans to kill the Ace-Host account for the time being.

It looks like I have the same problem. After not having used them for like a year and my account being cancelled I got an e-mail today saying that I owe them over $358.

Dear Mike,

Thank you for choosing Acenet, Inc. for your web hosting needs. It appears there was a billing issue and your account has not been charged for services. Your account currently has a balance of [$358.35] and will be billed on [DATE: 07/14/2006]. For speedy reactivation, please reopen this ticket immediately and we will process the invoice.
