View Full Version : Can you recommend these webhosters?
ambull 03-22-2006, 09:30 AM Hello everyone - this is my first post. Hope I don't step on any toes or break any rules...
Been looking for a super low cost, decent reseller host. I understand the 'you get what you pay for concept', so I'm not expecting the world here. Mostly i just need decently reliable web hosting from someone who will still be around tomorrow. $7.99 a month is my cap. Lower better. I need to develop about a half dozen single page sites, individually - hence my need for a reseller account, and I need some URL forwarding and email accounts.
So far I have found the following that seem to fit my criteria. Can anyone recommend these people/companies, or others not listed. I will only go with someone who comes with recommendations... Thanks.
299host.net
detoxhosting.com
sjrhosting.com
dotnamehost.com
BrettB 03-22-2006, 10:53 AM The only two I have heard of are sjrhosting and dotnamehost. I believe dotnamehost is fairly small, which is not a bad thing, but you may have a harder time finding reviews for them.
Have you had any luck with finding any reviews of those 4 hosts?

Once again, I am curious. How did you end up with that amount as the "cap" for hosting fees?

Hi, unfortunately, no, I have not found any reviews, which is why I was hoping to maybe get some input on this thread...

I have many things going on, web wise, and money going out monthly, quarterly, and yearly, and so for this particular project I need to be thrifty - thats how I came up with my cap.

Not yet - hope to though, or develop and sell, not quite sure which direction I'm heading in yet to be honest.
twhnman 03-22-2006, 12:08 PM You may want to read reviews coming from WHT on other web hosts. Best idea is to test each of these places. Test their support responce, email, phone, control panel demos, etc.

Nor do I, was just trying to be nice...

Patience has never been one of my virtues :D
Actually, after my initial post yesterday, after researching a little further, it became evident that SJR was the obvious choice amongst the four web hosters I listed. So I just went with it... Had anyone else recommended another company, it would have been great to compare, but then the patience thing just got the best of me and I couldn't wait...
Anyway, its only been a day at best but so far I am pleased with SJR. Setup was a breeze and the owner, Scott, has been very responsive...
And BTW, if anyone else is considering SJR hosting, see the deals he is offering for new customers this month. Very enticing deals... Can be found on a thread somewhere in here...
