Hi all,

I have just signed up with uplinkearth (good pricing & seems to provide decent services).

However, I also find out that if I want to cancel my account after the guaranteed 30-day money back period, I need to contact them 2 months in advance to cancel my account.

And I'm just wondering whether that's a common practise and whether that's acceptable.

Also, does anyone has any good/bad experince with uplinkearth?

Cheers.

I don't know what is common practice but 2 months, boy that sounds fishy. so if you no longer interested in them you get stuck for 2 months with no resources being used.

I think most hosts allow you to cancle whenever you feel fit. That is how we do it, and really how it should be done.

Now this will vary if you negotiated a smaller price to be there for like 3,6,12 months or whatever. Then I can see where they would want the notice because you agreed to a contract of sorts.

Greetings:

How can you have a 30-day money back guarantee where 60 days notification is required?

Our parent company requires 10 days notification for shared hosting and 30 day for dedicated.

However, the money back guarantee period allows for immediate notification as long as it is done in writing (fax or letter).

Thank you.

30 days notice isn't acceptable for web hosting... it's fine for dedicated server thought, 60 days is just bull ****

Chocolate,

Thanks for posting this information. I was reviewing this host, and had many of the same comments as you. Seems like a decent service for the price. I did review the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and didn't see allot in them about canceling an account. (I may have missed it.) I was curious if you can tell me where you found this two month cancellation information?

Thanks for the info.

- Jason.

I signed up with them as well (uplinkearth) and so far I've found them to be responsive to Support Tickets etc . .

I saw that 60 day notification and yes, indeed it seems odd. I'm just going to hope that the good service continues. I would think that if you could demonstrate that they failed to deliver on the promised services then a 60 day notice wouldn't mean anything.

They can't expect you to adhere to a contract if they didn't - ;)

Anyway, like I said - I've been quite happy so far and yes the pricing is good.

Best of luck.

Looks like they updated the TOS and it seems more logical now - See Below:

TERM AND CANCELLATION POLICY
This Agreement shall commence on the date of Uplinkearth's acceptance hereof and continue for a term which corresponds to the payment option specified by Customer on the Order Form or Domain Name Registration Form, as applicable (the "Initial Term"). This Agreement will be automatically renewed for a similar term at the end of the Initial Term or any renewal there of not less than five (5) days prior to the end of the then current term (a) customer notifies Uplinkearth in writing that it elects a different payment option and thereafter the new payment option shall control the term or (b) either party provides written notice to the other of its election to terminate this Agreement at the end of the then current term. If Customer cancels any services it shall remain obligated to pay all fees due therefore for the remaining portions of the current term, and if uplinkearth has purchased any equipment on behalf of Customer, including but not limited to circuits and/or routers, Customer shall assume responsibility for the payments for such equipment. In the case of credit card orders, all termination requests should be signed by Customer's primary contact person on the account who must provide the last four digits of the credit card on file with uplinkearth. uplinkearth shall not be liable for unauthorized termination of an account. Any termination by uplinkearth or Customer shall not relieve Customer of its obligation to pay fees incurred prior to such termination. uplinkearth reserves the right to terminate this Agreement without cause prior to the end of the term upon thirty (30) days written notice to Customer.

Nautical or Chocolate, are either of you using shared hosting from UplinkEarth?

I saw the same stanza in their TOS last night. I guess a 60 day cancellation period would make alittle sense if I was paying for service in quarters. My question is, does this 60 day policy hold true if I am a "pay by the month" customer? I would have thought that my "current term" would end at each month, and then automatically re-new. Perhaps I am misunderstanding how all this works. If my current term does end and then renew each month then I would have thought I could cancel whenever I choose.

I am not a current customer of UplinkEarth, but am considering hosting from them.

Thanks Nautikal and Chocolate for bringing this up.

I'm using their Virtual Hosting plan on a Quarterly basis.

I agree that under the terms on your Monthly plan - I would assume that provided you notify them before the end of the month, there wouldn't be any commitment to the next cycle.

If I were you I'd just send them an email and have them clarify the TOS.

I found that I had a few questions before I signed up and they were thorough in answering them.

Cheers.

Personally, all my experiences with uplinkearth have been really great.

Fast response times, excellent servers, friendly support that really wants to help you and doing it fast.

These guys are not trying to trick you into anything. I'm sure of that. So don't worry

If any of you are interested in this little piece fo information as well...

As far as I'm concerned, that 60-day notification clause is only in the Terms and Conditions that you have to option to view while you are half way through your signing up process.

The one that's right off its main page is much briefer and doesn't mention that.

But one more thing, even if I want to cancel my account in the future, does it mean that I HAVE to pay for 2 extra months? Or no.

Cause it might not worth a try if that's the case.

So far I've had rough roads with Uplinkearth, and decided to cancel before the 30 days for the guarantee. It's been a week so far, and I gave out a simple e-mail asking how long such a process would take and never got a response for over a day. (Usually they would respond to anything within a day, even if it was bad customer service response.)

I hope they didn't consider me to wait for 2 months, because I DID cancel while still under the 30 day money back guarantee. I will be fair to give them two weeks. However, so far I have them under my shady category.

I too am a current customer of Uplinkearth.net. Signed up on April this year so have not been with them that long. Their online tech support was fast at first but now it seems that they take too long. They mention that "Phone Support" is included but I usually get referred to their online trouble ticket system. :(

I hope they start providing good tech support again or I will have to take my accounts to another hosting company.
