Is there anything better than http://http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html (http://dreamhost.com) for 20 bucks?

That depends on what you're trying to compare, if you mean by quota and bandwidth, you probably can find better deals in the Offers section of WHT Forums but just look around and do some research before ordering and you should be fine. There are plenty of revies on DreamHost

Dreamhost's offers are nuts so tough to compare too but then again that is why WHT exists. Search and you will find some options. Do you have specific needs like a control panel, BW, disk space, etc?

750 gigs of BW? That is not very realistic unless you have your own server. Marketing wise providers offer it but if you hit it I would like to see what they say. It is pure marketing. Is this a need by you? I mean really....

I agree, basically that plan is just overselling in hopes you will never reach that. Might want to look around the offers section, but the ole saying goes "You get what you pay for" As mentioned, look around and you will notice the difference in pricing structures.

Exactly. :) Hostfrog and I see eye to eye. That is for sure.

Another indicator is to take a close look at a providers TOS/AUP so that you can get some ideas about the real limits of the service.

40GB & 1.2TB of Bandwidth with free increases and you are still looking for more / cheaper offers? DreamHost is pretty large corp. comparing with the hosts you find here ;)

What are you hosting that need that much of resources?

A site that requires 40GB disk space is pretty insane to put on a shared server ~
I can't believe people offer plans like that ~

You get get away with "unlimited" while you are at it, at a lower price, too. :D

There's probably better one's, it's very competetive these days. The question is how many peope would acutally use that much resources.

I doubt so. No one else here has a source for never ending disk space and never ending data pipes. :)

Over selling is the key word. Be careful, if you actually use these kind of resources your site might just "all of a sudden fail" for no reason. Considering dedicated servers with this kind of resource limits cost well over $200, you can imagine what's going on.

Yea i know but hey only 10 bucks im just hoping it'll host my stuff for 2 weeks min for me to find a new host cause the one im using is expensive ><

PS the dude said he has about 120 accounts per server (2.8 P4 1 gig ram) and most sites are "normal" as in myspace stuff><

Well will you ever use that amount? Also remember that you get what you pay for, so maybe its better to go with a hosting company that probably doesn't oversell and maybe charges a bit more

Sorry, but if you don't have the money, then don't buy any hosting or at least don't buy any hosting with outrageous deal like 40GB disk space.

I don't see how hosts can survive with a customer like you, wanting more and more resources but giving out that tiny bit amount of money that you have.

only bad thing is they run about 120 accounts on a server and a server specs are mediocre

What do you expect then? $10 to host on a SunFire with Quad Opteron Processors?

My opinion: Stick with your current host while you can afford it. If can provide you with a decent level of service and you can pay for it, I don't see the point of switching. When you are with one host, you'll find another one that is cheaper, no doubt. Then if you move to the cheaper one, you'll look for another that is even cheaper. I don't know how you are going to end this.

Then you are lucky that you've found a good host for yourself. There are people who subscribe hosting and they have been scammed in their the first attempt. Then they afraid that they'll end up the same for the second time. :fairy:

Why don't you ask your friend to lower down your fees by cutting down your space / bandwidth if you don't need that all?

ak15
03-22-2006, 10:17 PM
lol....i got about 659.23 Megs of space left and used 96115.07 Megs of band according to Cpanel and my sites only been opened for a month ><

YUPAPA
03-22-2006, 10:25 PM
You've used 19GB of space? :eek4:

Obviously that isn't a problem to put on a server sharing with 3 persons. Just imagine what it'll be like when you put this on the P4 unlimited disk space server that you've found ~

I am not trying to stop you from switiching, but if you have to switch then switch.

I just don't want to see you end up with the same thing happened to one of my customers who have been scammed while they were with their first host, lost everything and had to call their CC company to cancelled the CC and issue a new card ~

lol naw we got everything back-up....i got 15.5 gigs back up my other co-webmasters got the rest....we did it cause our original server couldn't transfer to our new host >< but hey im just hoping it'd be good from an additional week or 2...i dont expect much from a cheap host like that

If I pick one out of the two hosts (P4 unlimited host and DreamHost), I would go with DreamHost just to be safe as there are zillion of users using DreamHost.

I think you can afford $45 to stick with your current host, it is just that you see better offers and this is why you jump to it ~ ;)

So they told you that they have a hard drive with unlimited space and a datapipe with unlimtied transfer?

I have some beach front property in West Virgina you might be interested in then too!:)

Yea and Bill Gates looks hella poor to me ><

I know theres no such thing as unlimited but to hell with it i can spare ten bucks to see if they're worth it besides with dreamhost i dont feel like re-uploading all 20 GB of junk i got >< cause they dont have Cpanel
