We`ve been offering turn-key web sites/hosting for several months now, and never really considered domains until this week. We had quite a few emails asking if we offer domains.

So my question is. What would be our best option to offer domain registrations on our site. This would mainly be as an addition to our hosting packages, and quite possibly thrown in for free for during specials etc etc.

I`ve looked through enom, and there`s quite wealth of information to read through. I see there are free enom accounts offered on these forums. I understand that for whatever enom account we choose, we would need to deposit at least $100 before we can register any domains through our site? The amount of domains we`ll sell, I cannot justify spending too much.

So what other options are there for me? Are there any domain affiliations or api setups, where it looks as though we are the domain seller, but the actual billing side is done via a third party (if that makes sense).

I see Dotster offer something for domain resellers, but the domain registration/management pages look rather tacky even though they integrate easily into my web site template.

That $100 will disappear quickly enough. I didn't expect it to go so fast either, but sure enough....

I would personally just fork out the money and go with eNom... you get great pricing, and the service is also excellent.

Actually, you don't need to deposit $100 for an eNom account.

1) If you just use the "registry rocket", you don't need to deposit even a penny. You just set up your pricing, your branding, and that's it. They'll give you a full ecommerce setup, including handling of cc info, etc. That is how most of our domain name resellers start out. Quick and easy, and the site looks pretty decent. Your clients visit your "registry rocket" site (under your brand) to register and manage their domains.

2) If you want to manually register domains in your enom account, you can "fill up" your account balance by sending them a check, money order, or wire transfer. We've had some of our domain name resellers send them a check for $8.95 just to register a single domain.. no problem. The $100 "minimum" is ONLY if you want to fill up your balance using a credit card or paypal transfer.

if you don't mind manually processing your domain orders, I highly recommend www.hostway.com (http://www.hostway.com). $6.95 for following extensions: .com, .net, .biz, .info, .name and more. This all depends on how many domain orders you get. If you are getting a lot, it would probably be better to get a script with ENOM to process domain orders easier.

I also have both enom and directi. Either one or both is good. As mrzippy said, you can get a registry rocket account for free.
