I have two annual accounts with accuburst. Yesterday I discovered that my ws_ftp and corel ftp wouldn't allow me to have access. I emailed tech support and they said "sorry and your request has been forwarded to admin - they will follow up on this for you."

I left several more emails because I don't want an unproductive weekend when I need to be working on my websites. I imagine they won't tell me what the problem is until monday - a 3 days waste of time for me.

Just to get ideas - I went and read their AUC and TOS and there's nothing I have done to get this suspension of ftp. I don't email - except to my own lists, and others to which I belong, I post to ffa pages where the rule is unlimited posting and everyone that posts there knows there will be many posts and they are not spam. I don't have any hate or sex on my site. I do have some anti-bush, anti-illegal alien material but that's what our freedom of speech and thought guarantee, and accurburst told me when I signed up that they were "content neutral."

So, I'll have a lot more on this when I see how they treat a customer how has paid for two accounts by the year.

There have been a few glitches form time to time - but they have generally fixed them in short order.

This current is outrageous though because I've received no warning about anything. My sites are up and so is cpanel and I can upload through there but until I know whats going on - I'm not going to waste additional time. I've spent over 4 months day and night working on these sites. I hope they will remove this restriction and revamp their whatever that caused it. I never want to cause anyone trouble but I've filed complaints with state attorneys general before. I'll let you know how this turns out.

I'd say it's a little early for that. Have you tried connecting with an alternate computer on a different ISP if possible? Are you certain something like a security software suite hasn't done you the favor of updating and blocking FTP for you?

Not that I even know who the company is or anything but, well, better to make sure I suppose. It seems unlikely that they'd disable JUST the FTP and leave the site running if it was a TOS violation.

Have you installed any security softwares since you last logged into your FTP?

If you did violate their terms of service, they would have suspended your full account not just ftp. It could be either their FTP server is having issues or you have installed a new security software which is blocking you from logging into your FTP.

Yup its very unlikely, but one problem that could be that they have apf or other firewall running and if you made too many incorrect login attempts it will auto block you or even sometimes it auto blocks some ftp users and bans their ip to access ftp.But weekend shouldnt mean the hosting company taking a break. But its too early to say anything. But definately seems like firewall issue or ftp server crash, but can you access your site and login to your control panel?

Could be the firewall on your or their end. Have you installed any new firewall lately or ask them whether you could have become blocked by accident by the firewall on the server

Hi, and thanks for the response. It is all fixed now. I don't know what was wrong, but when techsupport said they were referring the issue to the admin - I thought it probably was not a technical matter. I didn't make a judgment about if the service was good because so far it has been very good and tech support good too.

Everything is fine now. Thanks John Hansen
