I've been searching for quite some time now, and haven't been able to come up with a decent piece of software comparable to the most popular options on DNSstuff.com

I work with DNS on a frequent basis, and recently left a job where they had developed some in house tools that I dearly miss.

Any hints out there for some good DNS software?

I would like to do NS / WHOIS lookups, pull public DNS zones from servers, etc.

I should learn more shell, but...
