hey guys and ladies!

I curently use your-site.com for my hosting needs and while I have been extremely happy with their services, their mail servers are too crowded. my e-mail program keeps timing out while trying to retreive mail from their servers.
I use some of those e-mail addys for important business.
your-site staff keeps blaming my isp for all the problems...I know better.

do you guys know of a company with the same packages as your-site.com but reliable mail servers??? I don't need too much bandwith as it is just a local business with no aspirations of increasing the client base

space is not an issue but 30MB would be great...

let me know who you guys recommend.

thanks

I used to have an account with Hurricane Electric, and their mailserver never went down. They don't offer much for their $10/month plan, but if all you're looking for is good email servers, I think you'll be happy with them. The URL is http://www.he.net/

Jeremy,

I need reliable e-mail and reliable hosting for about 12 websites thus the post in these forums. I am interested in a few of the companies I came across on these boards and would like to get input on the mail server situation.
thanks for the info on he.net though

Any decent web hosting company should be able to offer you reliable email service.

unfortunately, it 's not the case.

my first host didn't even offer pop3 accounts but that was a beginner's mistake on my part. dropped it, lost some cash but moved on to what I hoped was a better company:
your-site.com

loved the services and the testimonials, but in the past 3 weeks, everytime I want to check my e-mail before 5/6 p.m, I get an error message about my request timing out.
their support team keeps blaming my isp which doesn't make sense since I have no mail problems after 5/6 p.m. and I use my laptop in5 different location all with DSL/ cable modems.

I have not experienced this problem with any other host

You may be better off listing your exact requirements and/or posting this in the "Web Hosting Requests" forum.

Many hosts offer plans similar to your-site.com's plans, and some may even be able to create a custom solution for you.

I am also had the same problem, after i switched over to http://***************** hosting comapny. I am not getting any problem past two years.

They took the server in Hurricane Electric. This guys are not charging too much cost. They have cheap hosting plans.

Reliable hosting guys.

Lee,

Now you have my curiousity aroused!

badr,

Mail servers, if configured well can go on and on except for hardware failure or DoS attacks

If your mail is unavailable it could be due to server overloading by your host

I dont know if 100% uptime can be guaranteed by any one unless they charge an arm and leg and invest on high redundancy at different levels [network, hard disk, DNS etc.,]

Good luck with it

Cheers
Balaji

it is an overload problem.

I tried different e-mail programs to make sure that the one I use was not at fault (apple's mail.app). when I used MS entourage, the error message that was returned was:
"cannot fetch mail from server mail.7thgalaxy.com. only 500 channels available"

Clearly, my host is over selling pop3 accounts ( I only use 2 mind you) I have bypassed it by setting forwards to other e-mail acounts untill I decide on a course of action.

as far as posting in the request forum, it has been done and I am currently going over the different requests to find a more suitable host. surprinsingly enough, the hosts I am interested in are not amongst the ones that have answered......

peace

by all accounts on these forums, my hosting company was very reliable. but I think "WAS" is the keyword here.
