Hi, since my experience is limited to mainly dedicated/co-location hosting, I said I would ask around in a few different arenas to try to ascertain what the best option would be for a friend of mine who is trying to 'automate' his small webhosting business and add support for VPS.
Basically at the moment he is running 3 Windows 2k3 Web servers they all have Imail 8.06 and IIS 6 Web, FTP, and urchin, he also gives Cold Fusion, PHP, PERL, the usual goodies that every web hosting company gives out.
He is trying to find a control panel solution that has mail that is 'as similar' to the functionality as Imail as possible, but understands that there most likely is going to be no way to "import his users e-mail, settings, accounts, etc into his control panel system" although that would be ultimately ideal.
The second issue he has been grappling with is the age old question of VPS, he has played with Microsoft Virtual Server 2005; Virtuosso, and even a little bit with Xen in linux; but he doesnt really know what the "right" way these days to do it is; again i am really just on a fact finding mission to try and help him out.
The primary "issue" being the virtuals, it would be ultimately good if he could find a control panel solution where he could export his imail users/mail/domains into that new system...
Anyway, i've taken too much of your time already.
take care,
-Drew
