Hey there everyone.

I'm a web & graphics designer. I currently run www.chewnet.com which deals with a fair amount of clients each day.

However, I came across a website called Elance, which stores projects, in where service providers bid for the jobs. I'm quite interested in it, but due to the fee, I'm at first a bit hesitant to go straight ahead with the subscription.

Is there anyone here that has an account with them, or a little inside information? It would be much appreciated. :)

Thanks,
Best Regards,
Leigh Hewitt.

e-lance is more of a bottom feeder market than this place.

While some customers may look past price, you'll find a lot of offers there are just working for free (or the closest thing to). Unless you have a desperate urge to build your portfolio I'd suggest looking elsewhere for clients. You could do a half dozen projects from e-lance for the price of one good one at normal rates.

Basically, I'd agree with Greg. Unless you already have a killer portfolio and can write a great sales pitch that would make someone consider you over the dozens of extremely cheap offers they'll get, you'll have a hard time winning projects at elance -- unless you're going to be extremely cheap yourself. And in that case, you're one of dozens again, so you still have to find a way to stand out! Elance is a tough market.

From the other side of the fence, we've used Elance to find subcontractors a few times, and have found some good people.

In the past, guru.com has been reliable (you might want to check it out) .. however, so was elance 3 years ago :)

Thanks a lot guys. A lot of information there that I didn't know...I thought that elance was quite a good place to get work for a good price...it seemed anyway from looking at peoples offers.

And thanks to netacore for providing me with guru.com, I'm going to check that one out.

Cheers again, I'll pop back soon! :)

Best Regards,
Leigh.
