Hi all, my first post here...

I have a resseller account with AssetiveHost.com and my server, server2.assertiveweb.com, seems down for many hours. I have opened a ticket and after 12 hours I'm waiting for a response...

Somebody knows what happens?

Thanx.

Quartz
03-11-2006, 04:15 PM
Are you sure it's server2.Assertiveweb.com because I just www.allwhois.com'd the domain and got this:

Domain servers in listed order:
DNS1.ASSERTIVEHOST.COM
DNS2.ASSERTIVEHOST.COM

Are your settings correct? Spelling error perhaps?

alonso06
03-11-2006, 04:32 PM
My settings work fine before. I have not done any change.

Quartz

Most likely then there is downtime and they have been slow to respond then. Best of luck waiting it out :\

conradus

After 24 hours down there is no such thing as "slow to respond".

BTW the server I know is down is "server3.assertiveweb.com"

GNAX is up no downtime.
Looks like our provider just collected his last $$$ and went on vacation. :-)

Mine were on
NS2.SUPERFAST4.COM
NS1.SUPERFAST4.COM
And have been down since 03/01/06, more or less.
On 03/02/06
they claimed to move me....only no No ABILITY TO CHANGE PASSWORDS IN WHM, No FTP, No PHP or Fantastico.

NO REPLY FROM THEM EITHER.
I had been with tomsyer which was VERY GOOD.
ASSERTIVEHOST just ignores support requests.

I paid for four reseller accounts a year in advance BTW.

03-12-2006, 05:01 AM
yeah

never, ever, ever, EVER pay for hosting a year in advance.

thats my thought on it anyway ;)

i dont even accept yearly payments from my own clients just so that I can avoid hassles(sp?) later on if they decide to cancel their hosting with me. (which why would they? im the best! :P) Monthly manual payments through paypal only :)

Another lessons I learned:
1) Never ever ever host with a provider not advertising a PHONE NUMBER on their web site.

2) In the hosting industry it takes YEARS to built a respectable reputation and
just some HOURS to lose it all.

We are going 48 hours down. Still not even a single reply from AssertiveHost support. :crying:

dragonhost
03-12-2006, 12:00 PM
Yeah, I've been waiting 48 hours as well. I noticed some strange things happening before the server went down. People weren't able to upload etc. It seems like they did something to the DNS and left. I'm on the verge of losing all of my customers at this point and don't know what to do. AssertiveHost was fine for almost a year and a half. I'm very surprised and disappointed.

I am having the same issues. It is down since Noon Friday as faras I can tell if not sooner. They really are sucking this time. it is time everyone moves on from them. 48 hours no respose ot affirmation they areworking on the issue is just plain unprofessional and wrong ethically and also business wise. I am givingto monday noon and then pulling the plug and also telling all my card companies to stop payment and never accept a charge from them again.....that is morethan enough time...if it was a missing person the police would have already been called.

conradus
03-12-2006, 09:11 PM
They are not up.
Their website (assertivehost.com) is NOT hosted on the same servers they are putting clients on.

:smash: My account is on "server3.assertiveweb.com" hosted at GNAX datacenter.
Are we all on the same server or are there several servers down?

Several servers down could mean GNAX pulled the plug on them.:uzi:

It does start to "sound" like a non tech issue... NO announcements..no support tickets answered...

wonder if there is any way to get any info from GNAX...even if its just to verfy the worst!

@Knownhost - J...like what i see...thanks for a speedy set up :)

I was told last night my new DNS was:

NS1.ASSERTIVEWEB.COM
NS2.ASSERTIVEWEB.COM

By another hosting company who apparently is either helping out or purchased them.

My .us all propagated in under 10 minutes.

In any event they refuse to give me my NEW WHM user and pass and old one will not work at all. This is of course from a .com address.

Further they gave me no other info like FTP IP, CPANEL MASTER, IP to set my custom DNS.

The tech support chat feature keeps disconnecting me and has caused me to generate FOUR ticket numbers in just over 72 hours.

I too had lost my FTP and dreamweaver ability(IP or domain based FTP)Long before they went down. It seems Dreamweaver over the years goes haywire BEFORE the server shows any other signs of being about to crash.

There are some better DNS type tools than DNSSTUFF but I lost my link favs. Who knows of the BEST ONES?

Only one site with HEAVY PHP SEARCHEABLE DATABASE is missing from my WHM panel.

I used website pulse. The servers went down at 12:30 EST on friday...there were some strange DNS issues before that though such as people uploading files and no changes appearing on the websites. That was happening since the 8th at some point. I'm extremelly dissapointed with Assertivehost. They seemed to be fairly stable and the price was right. I can't risk something like this again. I already lost customers because of it and felt useless when I was trying to explain what was going on to them. Overall, a very bad experience.

We've been really lucky with providers. Nonetheless, I maintain server space at two data centers on a just-in-case basis. I have regular backups of client sites available, and manage the DNS at a registrar that won't be affected by an outage at our primary host.

Yeah, it's paranoid, and costs me some coin each month, but I think of it as disaster insurance. I'll spend some money each month to take these SOL scenarios off the table.

The server went down again this morning and is still down when I was writing
this reply.

Since this issue I immediately signed up with Site5 and uploaded all the backups I had. When the server came up I did a final backup and updated the sites.

On an email requesting credit I got no reply so that was it and I canceled my account.

The one thing that really pissed me off was the stupid reply I got from the
ticket I opened when the server went down:

If you are moving, make sure you research how long they've been in business, and try to find cold hard proof. Young hosting companies build a decent client base and then sell it off for a decent price to some other place who doubles their load with each buyout.

So .... need to see some hands on who has migrated out from Assertivehost ? I'm 50-50 on the idea right now.

ASSERTIVEHOST.COM has so little concern for it's customer's that soon google will reveal the lousy indifferent service they provide as result number one with their name. ACCUBURST.COM is the one who finally responded to my trouble ticket today after 12 hours of waiting.

ACCUBURST.COM, after over ten days of being out of service, and numerous trouble tickets and LIVE CHATS, finally got the thing up for UNDER two weeks.

I was down with no service for over ten days last time.

I am unfortunately an annual subscriber.

I believe the accuburst.com company is to conceal the lousy service from assertivehost.com.

A search for assertivehost.com already reveals the problem with bad service at assertivehost.com on the first google search page. nfortunately those "host reviewers" all give FALSE glowing reports despite constant problems and bad service with assertivehost.com.

The more BAD assertivehost.com posts the higher they hit in GOOGLE.

Anyone else try searching elsewhee for bad assertivehost.com as assertivehost.com as the search term alone?

I have been using assertivehost.com for a while now i kind of got use to the repeated black outs where the site is non responsive now i have had to move all my accounts from this host. No one replys to emails requesting support, sites have been offline for days some for weeks, the WHM cpanel for reselllers quit working a month ago support is non responsive and no one returns emails or phone calls to repeatedly fix their servers. Costing me many customers and lots of money. From my own experience i can tell you i would suggest you avoid this host at all cost. They will ruin your bussiness and name.

As of today my sites have been offline or non responsive in some manner or another for over one month with not one follow email from anyone to fixing it or refunding my money their terms clearly state they will refund for down time but never honor their own terms once. Clearly what theyre doing is either ethically misrepresenting or willful fruad, if not outright illegal.

Here is how i got my money back from assertivehost.com when they tried to side track my refund which i requested thru paypal by stating it was a service and there for they would not refund me. I pushed it a bit further and filed a formal complaint with the fed's thru the website https://complaint.ic3.gov/Default.aspx for internet crime complaint center as well as the better business bureau while the amounts may be small in the big scheme of things it is a big problem to sell a service you can not support or will not support and then denie the refund of money related to the service you can not or will not support i had my refund within a few hours of filing an e-complaint with the fed's. Its just sad i had to lower myself to get my money back when all i really needed was them to fix my server in the first place but after many lost accounts and not being able ot work on sites add new ones or anything after several weeks it gets tiring. It worked for me they finally refunded my money and after a month of ignoring my support tickets i got my money back.

For those of you who have decided to stick around with assertiveHost, I'd highly recommend taking what you have left and leaving.

It's quite obvious that the new owner's made absolutely no attempt to even communicate with you during the issue: RUN

There's simply nothing else you can do except recoup your losses with another provider. Things aren't going to get better (that seems to be pretty obvious) and as the majority of you are resellers you have your own client's to keep in mind.

Don't hate the providers, just PAY for quality service, and stop using places like ButtLickHost.com who offers 10GBof space and 50GB of BW for $5.99.

$10 should not get you 1GB of space or even 500MB's of space.

Unless you are dealing with a proven player, like FutureQuest, ATJEU, or a few others, then you are going to get what you pay for, and that is generally NOTHING!

I have gotten some good bargains over the years.

MOST webhosts figure you will NEVER use up your disk space or bandwidth, because their tos/aup says no anime, d/l over x, etc so there is no way you could use your quotas.

I have an annual plan with ACCUBURST.COM and have decided to ride it out.

My FANTASTICO is now missing...been complaining all week to no avail. I keep getting JIM in the live chat...still no fantastico. And I did send in tickets.

I have hosted with some smaller companies, trying to manage serves before. I have (on their behalf) indeed "hired in" (for a few bucks) a "computer whiz" from Bangladesh or Romania to fix the server right up. They do not know where to hire good cheap reliable help and rip their hair out trying to fix things themselves.

We had a funny "run in" where a host SUSPENDED a reseller I sold because he wanted a "GD" module installed already. The support guy actually thought "GD" was for "G*D D*mned" module....the guy had not heard of the GD MODULE. I called in, we all laughed and the guy got root access and installed his own "GD" module.

Oh, Chris...if there WERE "truth in advertising" there would NOT even be buttlickhost.anydomain available.

What about POS (for piece of sh*t) hosting? It sounds...so...trendy and enticing!

I have done a lot of business with many web hosting companies. Assertivehost.com is by far one of the worst hosting companies out there. Their server are never up and running. They are maybe up and running 55% of the time. Support is horrible; I haven’t had one response back when I asked a question. Their servers are very slow.

I do not recommend you do any business with Assertivehost.com in the future.
