Hello,

I have just found an interesting thing:

I have several reseller accounts. Some of them: vmpvn.com and 1yt.net
I go to dnsstuff.com and make traceroutes to both of them.

* vmpvn.com

c-vl102-d1.acc.dca2.hopone.net.
....
...
[Reached Destination]rusk.nswebhost.com.

=> with this result someone can guess that vmpvn.com is really a reseller account at nswebhost.com (If luckily, you can find that nswebhost.com is one of Hostingzoom's domain => vmpvn.com is a reseller hosting at Hostingzoom)

* 1yt.net
c-vl102-d1.acc.dca2.hopone.net.
...
...
[Reached Destination]1yt.net [No PTR]

=> Can not know it's a reseller account or a dedicated server?

Now I make another traceroute to hostgator.com for example:

* hostgator.com
c-vl102-d1.acc.dca2.hopone.net.
...
...
[Reached Destination]gator.hostgator.com.

=> Hosgator.com placed on a Server name gator.hostgator.com

* Or site5.com
c-vl102-d1.acc.dca2.hopone.net.
...
...
[Reached Destination]site5.com.

=> Placed on a dedicated server.

So when I am a reseller, how to hide nswebhost.com from vmpvn.com or at least make something like 1yt.net. Thus no one know I'm a reseller.

That's on your host's end. Nothing you can do about it, except request they do something about it.

I think its important to give generic names to your routers & servers. Even the IPs should be registered to a company that isn't related to the reselling business... I won't comment on the above hosts but there are companies that take the concept of "Private Label" seriously

True, in order to give 'real' private label having generic hostnames is critical.

And keeping them out of Google so they don't track back to you, can be a trick and a half. :crap:
