How would I be able to find out whether a site using ns1 & ns2 rackshack.net is a virtual account or dedicated server at rackshack?

Wouldn't a dedicated RackShack server have its own, private nameservers?

Not necessarily. They can use RackShack's DNS servers. Many people with only a couple of sites use RackShack's DNS servers. Also, people using certain registrars can register name servers with their domain name using RackShack's name server IP addresses, so that's not a good way to determine whether or not it's a virtual hosting account or a dedicated server. I don't think there'd be an easy way to tell. They do use Cobalt servers for their virtual hosting accounts, so that's one way to eliminate possibilities.

Okay, so I went to www.domain.com/admin/ and got a securish virtual account login page.

If that is so, then RS better screen the orders they received this week for something "pure" "young" and "nightly" as I'm pretty sure they didn't read the RS TOS.

Two of the sister sites in question owes me a total of $575.

I believe that for cobalt raqs, it's domain.com/siteadmin, they may have changed that in the last year or two though. Haven't used a raq in a while.

Ensim, uses domain.com/admin for it's site administration. If it does take you to ssl login page then it's pretty safe to say that it's one of their dedicated servers.

I'm not sure about what plesk uses though...

This is what happens when you go to domain.com/admin/

That's ensim webapp....

So it's definately a dedicated server at RS. Assuming you checked out the ip and domain and it belongs to RS.

Ya, it's probably dedicated, because RackShack virtual accounts use Cobal RAQs.

...or they could just be with another host that has an Ensim dedicated server at RackShack...there's really no way to tell.

If that's the case though, the name server would probably reflect the host, not rackshack.
