One of many - questions - but....
As a reseller, how important is having "myownnameserver" vs. anonymous?

Is there a "confidence" factor (from the buyers viewpoint)???

Thoughts, suggestions, etc...

Personally I don't think it makes much of a difference at all. I am sure most people won't go to the bother of checking a domain name for nameservers unless they were very knowledgable of the hosting industry in which case they would probably go to a larger well known provider. :stickout

I would say it's very important. This day an age image is everything and if that one thing makes or breaks a sales than I feel it would be important.

Plus a really good host should provide that for free if you have a private server. Or your Registrar can also set that up.

Thats my two sense.

i have about 121 resellers .... 112 of them choose to have personal DNS, 9 use our unbranded name servers.

I agree with the above - you'd be surprised just how many people 'look up' a hosts domain / name servers.

Gives a much more professional touch ;)

Indeed, use your own nameservers. Before I went into webhosting myself, I always looked at the nameservers of the webhost where I was hosting my personal site at.

So just get your own ones :)

I bought my domain name from godaddy. Does it include free name servers? (I couldn't find this info on their site)

And why do some hosts charge an extra monthly fee to use your own name servers? Isn't it a simple process and something you can even do yourself with some control panels?

it really depends on the host. If you are doing shared hosting. It's unlikely that they will be able to give you your own name server. If your doing private or virtual private hosting. Than you should be getting it with your service. I am surprised the Godaddy doesn't offer DNS control.

Most shared hosting providers do offer their resellers their own private nameservers.

I would say that 98% of our resellers opt to have their own private nameservers.

Wow that is cool that you clients get their own namer servers for even a start package.

I didn't know Alabanza offered that to their resellers customers.

Good for you.
