View Full Version : A Good Billing/Automation Package

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a good choice of billing/hosting automation software. I've been using WHMAutoPilot and have been somewhat disappointed. It generates invoices on schedule, but I still must manually mail them or they are never sent to clients. Unlike my experience using ModernBill as a client, my clients cannot simply go in and manually pay using PayPal every month -- it has to do a subscription, and if that subscription gets messed up, everything must be corrected manually via PayPal.

Perhaps worst of all, though, is that WHMAP does not allow more than one item on an invoice. If my client has three domain renewals, 1 hour of consulting and two hosting accounts to pay for, I must send out four separate invoices, rather than one consolidated, itemized invoice with all of the outstanding account activity.

Is there any package out there that wouldn't have these flaws? I know a lot of people wouldn't be bothered by them, but they are driving me nuts after about a year and a half of trying to live with them.

Thanks!

R.

Why don't you use Modernbill anymore? I've just begun to use Modernbill, and am very impressed with it so far.

It's a bit more expensive than WHMAP, but is well worth it, in my opinion. It sounds like you already have experience with it, anyway.

I never owned a license, but I use to be a client at a place that used it. It is on the top of my list of possibilities to consider -- it is good to hear you're pleased with it.

Definitely Modernbill. Version5 is coming very soon and that will be a very big and nice upgrade. It also comes with some nice built in anti-fraud features that are sorely needed in this business.

Yes, definitely pleased with Modernbill like I've said. I have tried WHMAP, and while it was nice, it doesn't come anywhere close in comparison to Modernbill.

I'm not exactly in the place to comment because I've only had Modernbill for a couple of weeks, but just login to the admin panel sometime...I just about drowned in there :D

I've been using AutoPilot without any problems. It's pretty independent as far as running itself, but I have noticed issues with billing, especially with invoicing. If I have a domain already being hosted and I change ownership on it (after the site sells on eBay), I have NO IDEA how to set up the account to auto-bill via PayPal with the new user. Still trying to figure everything out but seems okay so far.

Also you may try AWBS. I did not use it. But it's features looks very good.

You can get ModernBill for $8.99 a month (50 clients), or $14.99 a month for unlimited clients here>> http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=492204

My problem with MB is that it requires a lot of PHP options to be enabled that can compromise the security of the PHP install on the server

Dont go with modernbill directly. Check out www.mblicenses.com who will also help convert your WHMAP to MB. MB Support takes days to get a response. I have had good response times within minutes with mblicenses. Also want to mention the better prices.
Good luck in your billing script journey :)

if you ask me mb is a waste of money and the chances of you even making that much a month a year and 1/12 from now are slim to none! go with something cheap for now

My company has been using WHMAP since our beginning days. We are now working on migrating to Modernbill.
