View Full Version : Domain Reseller With Enom
cyruski 03-03-2006, 01:41 PM Hi
I just bought Modernbill today, But I want become a domain reseller too...
What should I do more? will I pay again to enom or register.com ?
On the other hand if I buy an SSL from sslfactory.com(64.99$) am I automatically become a domain reseller of register.com... ???
mrzippy 03-04-2006, 05:26 AM You can sign up for an eNom reseller account from ModernBill. There is no charge to obtain your account from them.
I do not recommend SSLFactory for your ssl certificates. You will get better pricing to become a reseller directly with www.rapidSSL.com.
cyruski 03-04-2006, 08:47 AM thank you, I thought I am gonna pay 99$ for it
Sohan 03-04-2006, 08:51 AM You need to pay $199 atleast for the eNom reseller, but this will be added as credit into your account.
cyruski 03-04-2006, 09:05 AM I see, So I ll be getting domain names from enom starting from 7.95 $ and sell any price I wish ?
I am also looking for a cheap/single root SSL
I found tihs but it s very cheap comparing other sites, whats wrong with it ?

Sohan 03-04-2006, 09:11 AM No, with $199 plan, domains start from $9.95.
cyruski 03-04-2006, 09:20 AM ok what about if I buy SSL from sslfactory.com(64.99$) am I automatically become a domain reseller of register.com... ??? what should I then Add funds to register.com as I do in ENOM ?
sarkar 03-04-2006, 06:08 PM No, with $199 plan, domains start from $9.95.
If you are a customer of modernbill then the domain registration fee starts from $7.95, no matter you are paying $199 or just $100 to enom.
eNom Resellers requires domain resellers to fund an account before you can actually sell any domain names. There is a minimum $100.00 limit to fund your eNom Reseller account. This is not a hidden fee and all eNom reseller accounts must be funded to register domains.

To become a reseller of ssl certificates you do not need to pay register.com or enom.
SSLfactory is a service by modernbill which is offering a complete range of GeoTrust. You can resell ssl certificates from ssl factory and for this you do not need to do more. Just signup for a ssl factory account and create a support ticket to modernbill stating about your account. They will do the rest and its all set to go:)
you can resell ssl certificates and register.com services from here. Its depends on you, whom you want to resell and and accordingly you will have to add fund.
mrzippy 03-04-2006, 07:20 PM There is a minimum $100.00 limit to fund your eNom Reseller account.
This is only partially correct.
There is NO minimum amount needed, if you fund your account by check, wire transfer, or money order.
The $100 minimum only applies if you choose to fund with credit card or paypal.
sarkar 03-05-2006, 10:42 AM Yes you are right, this one is only required if you are funding through paypal or credit card.
mjb-is 03-05-2006, 02:11 PM You can get $8.95 Enom accounts from many e xisting Resellers or ETP's for free. This would get you $1 better than going through modernBill if that does indeed mean a $9.95 account.
For SSL you could go as a Reseller to RapidSSL but you'd need to buy a lot of certificates to get a better price than buying from www.servertastic.com at $14.95 each for the same certs,
We're an official RapidSSL reseller but it's just cheaper for us to go via ServerTastic and buy the certs as we sell them to clients, rather than have a big d eposit in RapidSSL bank account.
Also know that Enom charges a 3% "convinience" fee for paypal or credit card payments... which is illegal - credit card merchants aren't allowed to charge any extra fees as compared to if you were paying with cash...

I think they are not charging wrong. The thing is they are asking you to add fund your account and in this case they are not selling you any of their product. If they sell any product, suppose cost of that project is $10 then they can't charge you more than $10 as per paypal policy but they are asking you to fund your account and in this case they are not doing anything illegal.
Mastercard merchant rules:
"A merchant must not directly or indirectly require any MasterCard cardholder
to pay a surcharge or any part of any merchant discount or any
contemporaneous finance charge in connection with a MasterCard card
transaction. ...A merchant is permitted to charge a fee ....if the fee is imposed on all like transactions regardless of the form of payment used."
*edit*: Enom specifically says "3% of the total amount refilled will be deducted from your balance as a "Refill Convenience Charge". " .... I think they get around it by a loophole in which they offer a "discount" for cash and check payments.
mjb-is 03-06-2006, 01:17 PM Yes, it is very annoying. To top it all off, not only do they charge you that 3% (meaning you get $97 credit for every $100), but they are also getting your money in advance in THEIR bank account. i.e You deposit $100 to fund a renewal or registration required at even $8.95. It may be days or weeks before you use the rest of the balance, depending on how many domains you have. Even if you do have lots of domains, this means you either deposit more at a time or more frequently, so they still get your money in advance.
Just the 3% charge effectively means we oay about 32c more per domain than the published prices. The only saving grace is that it's still cheaper than most other registrars, and they have teh benefit of the API you can use.
