View Full Version : How much would you pay for ...
A Sony Vaio F809K Laptop thats rarely been used, with the following specs:-
P3 850Mhz CPU
30GB Hard Drive
15.2" TFT Screen
128MB SDRAM
Internal DVD/CD Combo
Internal Floppy Drive
Internal 56k Modem
Yamaha Soundcard with speakers
All usual ports USB / Parallel / also with FireWire, TV Out etc.
Also with recovery discs
Just wondering as I wanna sell it on as I rarely seem to use it which is a shame having only bought it 11 months ago :(
If this is in the wrong forum - sorry, could a mod please move it?

How much are you wanting for it? I could give you about $500! If at least it had more ram and mhz then I would give at least $200 more! But if you want to sell it for $500, let me know!:D
Hi guys,
thanks for the interest - some more info for you (i've already sent these to you Brian :) ) - The laptop's located in the UK (where im based) but am more then willing to ship internationally, I bought the laptop new 11 months ago for £2,800 equivilant to US$4,800 i think :). Still got original receipts / recovery discs / original box, will also throw in the carry case - I know in the ever moving tech industry 11 months is a long time on computer specs so i know the laptop has lost some value - so please those that are interested make an offer if you like.
:)
Cheers

HostNuclear 05-09-2002, 09:36 PM You payed $4,800 for 850MHZ laptop? Here in Ga, US I could buy brand new 850MHZ laptop for like $900-$1000! Sony would probably be $1000! I guess UK is much more pricey on products then US.
mrlarter 05-09-2002, 09:38 PM yeah no offense to anyone from the uk but it seems they are always a few steps behind when it comes to technology...videogame releases, laptops, computers anything of that sorts...its kind of odd if you think about it..
it was the best laptop around 11 months ago - and its probably still one of the best on the market today - not many laptops have 30GB hard drives / 15.2" TFT screens, those that do - come at a price :)
Cheers

most of the extra money paid usually goes to the government via VAT which does hurt @ 17.5% :o , also when the supplier tries to bring any products into the country they get hit with duty fees - which add up the cost of the total product - sometimes wish i lived in the states :D ( no not sometimes ... all the time ;) )
Cheers

Actually, there are 1.4 GHz laptops around now for $2,000 :)
My laptop was only 700 MHz and I got it a year ago for close to $2,000
Anyways, I'd probably sell this one for around $500 - $600
HostNuclear 05-09-2002, 09:57 PM Here in ga, I could buy desktop with 900MHZ for like $400 and it was used probablyl ike 3 months or so. I really always though UK was like US but technology seems to be much expensive. Anyways if you find somebody from UK, they will probably buy laptop since they live in UK.
