I recieved one of these in the mail today. Could people please advise a plausible answer to the following?
==================================================
====
I can get to my site from work, but not from home. This may have something to do with what Tom was emailing about earlier?
Please tell me this is temporary...I drove about an hour to get out here and do some work, and we can't get much accomplished this way.
I can't ping the IP address. Nor traceroute to it. It dies at the
12ish hop. Once again, I've forgotten to send you an output of the
tracert.
We use SNET/SBC DSL for our ISPs. I have been able
to connect to ltda from his connection, while unable to connect from
mine in the past, but yesterday was different. I couldn't connect from both mine and his house.
I'm using IE 6.x, but like I said I can't ping it from a command
prompt. Also cannot ping it if I try from my BSD box. (They're both
going through my firewall (which btw is ok, to the best of my knowledge (see prior problems as "the best of my knowledge"))) Lynx on the BSD box fails to connect to the domains as well. I am using WinME for an OS on the Windows machine. FreeBSD 4.5 on the BSD box. WinME on the second windows machine, with IE 5.5. All fail. The firewall I speak of is a DSL router/firewall combo from LinkSYS. It's had no issues before. Actually, the traceroute leaves SNET's dominion altogether..
Methinks that answers your questions..
Who knows with this "internet" thing.
Thanks,
Attached is my traceroute
