Hello,
I am not looking for an email software...
I would like your opinion on the best
free web based email provider
(e.g. fastmail.fm, runbox, hotmail...)
I need at least 10MB
Thank you.

...from their FAQ:
Thank you for your interest to our formerly multilingual services. The decision of closing them down was necessary from an economic point of view as we realized that there is only minimal demand for an international interface. We appreciate your understanding.
Please note that your e-mail address WILL NOT be disabled, you are free to
continue using our service. If you access GMX by any external e-mail
software like MS Outlook you do not need to change anything. If you
access GMX by browser you will be automatically switched to our German
user interface. ...
...We are sorry, but there is no further support in any other language then german.

The Free Email Address Directory (http://www.emailaddresses.com/) has a pretty big list of providers.

First you could sign up at hotmail.com and get an account. After that you could download msn explorer software and add your account to there. Then they give you 10megs of email storage space. Even if you just check email off hotmail.com. Then software allows you to add up to 8 more users.

Of course don't be put off by Windows Servers providing the Hotmail service because they simply couldn't handle the job as Microsoft realised.....
Microsoft's Hotmail is actually run on a nice stable Solaris base.

Actually Microsoft has approx. 15% of their perimeter servers running Windows 2000/IIS machines while the majority of their backend is still running FreeBSD/Apache server farms.

Hotmail uses Windows 2000 and IIS5
I just tested both main page of hotmail and my inbox pages.
I tested servers used for different pages using a software that gets information from web server.
All pages are hosted on Windows 2000 and IIS 5.

It was certainly the case a while back they were running Solaris. When MS bought hotmail it was running a non-MS OS [I foget if it was Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris]. MS tried to move everything to NT boxes but they died quite badly so then they got a custom plan from Sun - seems ironic in so many ways. With W2k looks like Windows might just be able to do it then:P
I did a quite search on google the first site to popup was:
