I do wedding photography in the tri-county area.
I have a domain name "www.xxxxPhoto.com" (where xxxx is the main city of the county I live in)
With this website alone, I get about 25 weddings a year. (good weekend cash)

I also have about 10 domain names like "www.xxxxPhoto.com" where xxxx spells the other cities in my county.

Question.
Is that a good idea? or dumb idea? (to buy multiple "xxxxPhoto" domain names)
Should I also buy other city names in the other two counties?

Or, should I buy more domains to cover the entire city names in the tri-county area that I work for.

I would why not it's not a huge investment. Also might want to get the plural versions to xxxphotos.com It makes people think your an expert in there area. If you get only one job because of one of the domains you reg'd it would easily cover the registration cost so why not.

I think you should DEFINITELY buy ALL the xxxxPhoto.com names you can get your hands on. Right now. ASAP. I didn't really understand what you were asking as an alternative :(

Sorry, I messed up my original post (the last line shoud be deleted), I don't seem to find "Edit" button. :(

Thank you, I just bought 5 more domains to cover all the major (official) cities in my county.

What about the cities in the other 2 neighboring counties? Did you get them too?

NO.... just my own county.
County below is kind of low-class, I don't know if anyone would want to use those city names.
But, I was lucky enough to buy "CountyNamePhoto.com"

The county above is high-class.
I need to make decision...

Yikes, I spent lot of money.... I have 20 domain names so far.
But I make about $20K (extra weekend cash) from this website, so...

PS. The county I live in is high-class.

Thank you.

Your welcome. Good luck with your photography business. 20 domains in 1 county should be enough to keep you busy every weekend :)

I would suggest you create static pages for each domain and have them point to your main site, this way you would get both typed in and search engine traffic.

Wait, wait... ComplexDrive.
Can you explain that to me in detail?

Should I make 1 page website for each domain name (20 websites total) that has a link to my main photography site? Is that what you are saying?
I have a reseller's hosting account, so I have no problem doing that.
I just want to make sure if that's what you are saying.
Woudn't that be illegal under google's law?
Should I make an empty page with just a link? or do I put a lot of text?

Currently, I just put URL re-direction on all domain names.

Thank you.

I think you are doing the correct thing now, tmax100. It's a waste of your time to put up one page sites on each domain. They'll never rank well in the search engines. You have to think about whether or not the search engines will think of them as doorway pages, whether there is duplicate content, or even if your links will be seen as a spammy network, if they are on the same/similar ip addresses. It just isn't worth the effort, imho. What you would gain, if done correctly, is backlinks to your main site which maybe what ComplexDrive was alluding to.
