View Full Version : qualitydomainhosting.biz down again??
anton51 05-08-2002, 04:09 PM I have recently signed up with http://qualitydomainhosting.biz while the servers was a little slower than my past host, HostRocket i was satisfied with their service. Last night, the server i am on went down for 6+ hours without any information from their tech support, no contact or anything. I pay for their promised so called "90 minutes support response guarantee". This is cheap fake advertising my site is down yet again and no information. Does anyone have their phone # or other method of contact?? They are supposed to be my partner, not destroying my business with false promises
Aussie Bob 05-09-2002, 12:09 AM Sorry to hear about that. I hope everything is ok on their end for theirs and their client's sake. I can't access their site and get -
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
The servers were at DV2 from memory. Maybe there's an outage in parts of their network or something.
anton51 05-09-2002, 12:37 AM Oh no!!!!!! They seem so serious now Closed down without notice.   Time for a chargeback tomorrow morning this business practice is unacceptable. I am running a business here i cannot work together with a kindergarden operation :(

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. This is the internet and stuff goes wrong all the time. There's probably a reasonable explanation for this. I saw them promoting in the "Offer's forum" a few days ago. The owner of the business could be incapacitated somehow. I hope he's alright.
Also check out this thread - http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48850 for an explanation. :)
Anton,
As stated in the thread quoted above by Aussie Bob, if you are indeed one of our customers, you have ALREADY been issued a refund for the last payment you made. This was done automatically yesterday, with EVERY client on the affected server.
After being hacked, the server has been back up since 7:30am Eastern Time (US) yesterday. Our EMail, and all other functions, including our HelpDesk, have been working fine since. We have taken our 'main' site down, as we do not wish to add any additional clients until we are able to sort out this incident. ALL of our client sites are up and running as of now, and have been for 24-hours. Other than your post here, you have not attempted to contact us through either of those channels in the past 24-hours - if you had, you would have certainly received a response, we have been in constant communication with our other clients since the server was restored yesterday morning.
Frankly, we wish you well in finding your new host - if you'd like to reveal your identity (you can PM me here so you don't have to let the world know), I'd be happy to cancel your account. We'd prefer to work with grownups as well.
I am curious about one thing - I have accounted for EVERY one of our clients that have signed up since we initiated the support guarantee.. You seem to be making it a point in your posts - however, you definitely haven't signed up with us since we began offering that guarantee... You are not paying for it if it wasn't offered when you signed up, nor was it falsely advertisted when you did. Hmmm....
kunal 05-09-2002, 06:59 AM anton, how about posting the link to your site?

Rotifer 05-09-2002, 12:54 PM Yeah, let's see the site ... i'm curious now. :alien:
Fastman 05-09-2002, 03:26 PM A while back many of you recall that this sort of thing happened to a couple of the more popular resellers. Not to dredge up the past, but there were various theories as to whether one of these companies or the other may have played some knowing part in the fiasco.
Some time after that, several folks (self included), disgruntled over how low the industry had stooped (accusations, name calling and general espionage and dis-intrigue  ), formed a group to try to strike out on their own. QDH was one of the first to make a go of it.
I think you'd have to be an ostrich to think that this was just some random act of kindness on the part of some high-schooler looking to hone his skills. It seems apparent that some party does not like competition and is trying to send a message to any who would try to level the playing field. He knows that many were looking to see the reaction in the market. I guess we should all shake in our boots and bow in fear to this little genius...
(Personal note to hacker: This incident was not a reflection on how "incapable" your competition is, it is a reflection on what a sniveling, insignificant, and impotent little loser you really are. When those in the know have the decency to expose you, I'd personally like to see you dragged through the courts, and will cooperate in any way I can, and believe me I can).
And so, we again see how low this industry has gotten. We should all feel awful about the state of our industry. Further, this is giving every single one of us a bad name. Thanks d**kless!

I'm sure you won't find 'Anton' coming up with this anytime soon. We have now, personally and individually contacted the few remaining clients that we had not heard from after sending our initial status messages. We are 100% certain that anton is not currently our client. If he ever was, it was long before this incident happened.
Mr. Anton, once we receive the IP you posted from, should we find any link between that and the IP the hack originated from, you can be assured we have every intent to file charges - seems funny how you could have known about it so soon after it began...
MCHost-Marc 05-09-2002, 04:41 PM I personally would like to see less flaming and attacking against companies every time something happens. The internet generally is not very stable, connectivity problems, hardware problems and hacking attempts can and most probably will sooner or later happen to everyone. These and other issues have happened to most companies on these forums, Splashhost, Voxtreme, it happened to us as well and now QDH.biz. Just because a company has temporary problems with this or that service, it doesn't mean they're bad or closing down.
This seems to be unique to WHT, since i don't see this kind of flaming on other forums.
HRBrendan 05-09-2002, 05:05 PM Alot of the newer companies starting out think its to their advantage to trash other companies when they have problems, in hopes of grabbing a customer or two. Not sure if they're in the mindset of 'nothing can go wrong with me' but what goes around usually comes around.
When another host has a problem you should think 'oh that sucks bad, how can I prevent this from happening to me and learn from their mistakes' not 'haha that sucks, how can I get 3 of their customers to sign up with me'

To be blunt, what worries me much more is that it seems some existing companies may think its to their advantage to hack other companies in hopes of grabbing a customer or two. Not only is this short-sighted, it's also criminal - a reputation that no one with any business sense would want established for this industry.
Don't forget that this is a young industry currently run by young individuals and making young mistakes. The more mistakes made and less self-policing, the more you open the door for a Microsoft to just take it over in the middle of the night. If I'm "Joe Big Company" viewing this from the outside, I step in and munch the MCHosts, SplashHosts, VenturesOnline, etc like snack food when I see this kind of disarray.
I doubt you'll see $3 hosting anymore once that happens...

Congrats to qdh for coming through this issue and refunding the $$$$$. That's really putting your money where your mouth is and putting your clients first. :)
