I had to do this myself when my newest PC came loaded with gawdaful XP which is how I figured out how to fix some compaitbility issues I was having.. People told me I would get used to it but its been 3 month and I still hate it.. Looks like its back to 2k pro.. (which is not much better than XP but easier to use).. kunal 05-08-2002, 05:55 PM hi doesnt windows come with a manual? kunal bofh 05-08-2002, 06:01 PM Originally posted by jic Does anyone know of / have a guide on how to use a windows 2000 server machine with IIS for web hosting (enabling FP authoring etc. etc.) All the help you need should be within Windows2000. The best way to learn (at least the way I learned) was just to dive in and start adding sites. http://groups.google.com/ doesn't hurt either if you have specific questions about IIS and 2k. mattan 05-09-2002, 06:38 AM ..The Official FRONTPAGE site at Microsoft's site ... If I remember correctly it was www.microsoft.com/frontpage --> somewhere under there they had a bunch of official documents. You might also want to check out FrontPage 2002 instead as it more or less comes with a web based interface which you set and give to your clients. But the biggest thing is working with the permissions in FrontPage. Once, you have frontpage installed it tends to take over and reassign your permissions ( at least on 2002 ). This tends to mess up your existing NTFS permissions. Other than that I think there was a FrontPage Resource Kit which you could download or at least view on line Good luck markcastle 05-13-2002, 06:53 AM Try http://www.iisfaq.com - very good resource for anyone wanting to host on Win2k Cheers - Mark JWong 05-14-2002, 07:12 AM or htp://www.ntfaq.com (http://www.ntfaq.com) is also a good resource |
