View Full Version : Problems with expirefish
padders 05-08-2002, 10:45 AM My first problem seems to be an interface thing, I have about 60 names on the list but when I click to view page 2 I get:
"You have no names being monitored, please add names."
with links to page 1 and page 2 below.
Anyone else seeing this? It works fine on 1s page ...
The 2nd problem is perhaps more serious. I knew that the domain www.forumpro.com was on hold and expiring soon so I tried to add it to expirefish. It told me someone else had it added to their list, but I think it adds it anyway.
So today I was surfing around and found a list of todays dropped domains. Guess what was on it, forumpro.com. So I rush over and check to see if it is still avaliable. It is, and I register it using registerfly (stargate.com my normal register is down).
This seems a bit weird. I can't check to see if forumpro.com is in my list now or whose it was in etc because I can't see page 2. However I have this archived email:
[padders] You have chosen to monitor the follow domain names using the expireFISHNET service.
1. forumpro.com
www.expirefish.com
A UnifiedNames.com Company
strange or what?
Bigdave 05-08-2002, 03:34 PM That's pretty bizarre. Actually I went to network solutions whois and checked your new domain, and at first it claimed it was available to register. But when I clicked on register, it discovered that it was gone!
I have expirefish waiting for a name I really want that should drop soon. The whois message changed to the "local database out of date" just in the last couple of days, and I guess that means it will drop in a few days.
Where did you find the list of daily dropped domains? The only ones I can find want some substantial $$$$$...
Thanks,
BD

padders 05-08-2002, 03:52 PM yup, deleteddomains was where i found it.
Bigdave 05-08-2002, 04:52 PM :D Mucho gracias for the information. Hopefully Network Solutions will drop my desired name in the next few days as predicted.

Astra 05-08-2002, 10:29 PM I had the exact same problem, I was using expirefishline to moniter one name ...the next time I log in it says no names being monitered, add or delete a name,
I know I added a name there to be obtained...
I did send them a mail...they are still sleeping on it

Bigdave 05-09-2002, 11:30 AM I read elsewhere that once you see the out of date message from WHOIS, that means the domain will drop within 5-7 days. Anybody here know if that is correct for a netsol registered domain? The one I'm looking at only expired in Feb.
TIA,
BD :D
Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.

The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU domains and
Registrars.
Domain not found locally, but Registry points back to local DB.
Local WHOIS DB must be out of date.

In my experience that's true. I had this same situation a couple of weeks ago and that's exactly what happened.
Bigdave 05-12-2002, 07:13 PM Cool! Looks like expirefish scored my desired domain. Apparently it dropped from netsol on a SUNDAY (today). I checked yesterday afternoon (was on the road with a dial up connection), still showed as not available for registration. Got home today, checked the e-mail, and had the message below from expirefish.
I did the $19.95 thing to watch one domain, which included one year registration. I'm happy!!
I owe it to all the good threads and advice on this board - mucho thanks!

I have been checking similar domain (NetSol, domain not found locally ... blah blah) since OCTOBER 2001.
There are NO rules when you talk about NetSol.
MEGEX 05-13-2002, 04:48 PM Here’s something I haven’t seen before: On April 16th, a domain I have had my eye on was updated to ‘on hold’ status, as you can see here:
------------------------------------
Whois Server Version 1.3
Domain names in the .com, .net, and .org domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com

Name Server: SISI.NET

Domain not found locally, but Registry points back to local DB.
Local WHOIS DB must be out of date.
------------------------------------
I waited the expected 5 -7 days for the domain to drop, but it did not. Then on May 7th, quite unexpectedly, the WHOIS info was updated, more specifically the ‘Updated Date’ field was changed:

Finally, the domain dropped today, 6 days after the date in the recently changed ‘Updated Date’ field. Weird stuff.
And yes, I did happen to snag the domain. :D

Congrats!! My mind is still reeling over the domain that was supposedly dropped yesterday on a SUNDAY. And to boot, deleteddomains.com is still showing it as on hold. I checked it this morning against yesterday's deleted list - nada, same for today's deleted list. Guess I'll just be thankful.
If anybody is interested, pm me and I'll let you know the domain name.
BD
MEGEX 05-13-2002, 07:57 PM Something is definitely not right with DeletedDomains.com today. The domain I snagged earlier this afternoon still has yet to be listed as deleted on their “real time” lists...
A search for the domain shows it as still being on hold.

Same here. I'll keep checking and note here when it finally shows up as dropped. At least the netsol whois shows it belonging to me, and that's what counts, right? :D
