Hi, my first post here. I am looking to register 2 domains, 1 primarily for email at the moment, full website to come later for both. I'm looking to register a domain with someone who also provides an imap email account. One i have found so far is 1&1 and from reading these forums i can see they are not recommended. The only other option i have found is gate.com who were formerly Hostsave but they dont seem to offer whois privacy protection and they havent replied to my email enquiry on this (always a bad sign). An alternative is to use a service like Fusemail but that seems to me like having two potential failure points would not be a good idea. What would be my best option? Thanks for any replies.

Welcome to WHT! :D

Why dont you register a domain and use some small mail hosting package from any hosts?

Or you can register a domain with Registerfly and then use theur $4.99 / $8.99 - year mail packages

Thanks for the advise CSDesk, though from reading through the forums here i think ill pass on Registerfly, plus they dont do imap email.

I would never buy hosting from a registrar(and vice versa). Find a company that specializes in email hosting.

Thanks dmaven. I think im going to go for domain registration with Namecheap and email hosting with Fusemail.

I don't use the detailed dns management (other than url/email forwarding), but I'd say you'd be able to do that immediately the domain appears in your NameCheap account.
