Long ago, I remember there being a method of getting subdomains to work simply by creating a folder in the /home/virtual/siteX/var/www/html and by the nature of the script the subdomain was created with the name of the trailing directory.

My question is that why don't subdomains automaticially work when a folder is created in /home/virtual/siteX/var/www/ and is there a way to enable this?

From my expirimentation they only work when created in ensim using the subdomain function, if anyone could just type or paste the solution here, that would be greatly appreciated. I've done quite a bit of searching across the internet (this forum included) and I unfortunately came up empty handed on the topic. Plain and simply I'm looking to create wildcard subomains on the latest version of ensim, can anyone assist with this task? I can pay for someones time.

My knowledge of Ensim does not go back that far but I don't get how simply creating the directory would equate to a sub-domain. Somebody has to add the DNS entry and httpd.conf entry for the magic of sub-domains to work.
