View Full Version : Where can I find stock photos?
PixelAxis 05-07-2002, 08:38 PM Hi,
I'm not sure where to put this thread so I put it here.
I wanted to know where you guys get your stock photography. I need royalty-free pics of business-related things, people, servers, etc.
If any of you can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm looking for something that's affordable, nothing like $200. I would be amazed to find something good for free.
I need some good stock photography to use in my web designs. If a fellow designer could help me out here, maybe I could reward them somehow....
Anyway, thanks for your help!

I can think of istockphoto.com off hand and I would highly suggest doing a search for "stock photo" you should get some good responses as this has been discussed many times.
Go to my friend Grace's site http://websoup.starkfrenzy.com and click on Resources. She has a bunch of stock photo sites listed, and some can be used for commercial purposes for free.
21inchguns 05-08-2002, 12:18 AM use the link Lain gave you.......that is a great resource.....
you could also join the Hemera site, they have some very good quality stuff at very good prices......just pay for membership.....
Another great site is this one:::
www.zuadobank.com
cheers
ADEhost 05-08-2002, 01:24 AM well it depends on what you like
www.marjaleenapelho.com has a nice portfolio of work that has a flair ( more artistic touch ) and are within reason
and comstock.com has everything
SO that you know, negociation is the key. what I buy for 500 you can get cheaper ( or pay more ). trick with them is to be able to be specific to a group of 3 images that are not highly used.
also, please remember not to desire exclusive use of the photo ( that will save you alot of money ).
Also, you can protect yourself from copyright violations when you have an image from these dealers. you report the offending web site to the web host ( with a copy of the image contract saying you have a right to use this mage and believe that the site is in violation), the image dealer ( telling them that you think someone is using the image that you have subscribe to for web hosting purposes) and the upstream provider with a copy of the contract of the image.
the stock company will attack very quickly to get this matter resolved because it is thier image and they want revenue from it.

PixelAxis 05-08-2002, 07:58 AM Thanks for the links everyone, these sites are great!
BTW, does anyone here use any good photo CD's? If so, which ones do you think are the best (but affordable) with tech-related pics and people?
Thanks again!

NetXL 05-08-2002, 09:24 AM Do a search on the forum for stock images or stock photos. There have been heaps of threads about it, with enough sites to keep you going for a while.

I've searched before and visited some of those sites, but they are all free stock sites. I'm willing to go for a paid service or a CD.
