This surprises me a great deal, given how he & Nancy expanded
the war on marijuana.

Reagan Wanted Marijuana Legalized

In newly released audiotapes of Ronald Reagan's broadcast commentaries,
Reagan made clear his view that individuals should be allowed to use
marijuana if they wanted to.

The Reagan broadcasts come from the days before Reagan became president and
were believed to be lost.

But in the new audio set "Reagan In His Own Voice" the unedited version of
Reagan's most controversial broadcasts are now available.

In one broadcast, Reagan declared it was an individual's choice if they
chose to smoke marijuana, as long as they were aware of the health risks.

Reagan had a strong Libertarian streak, though he also held strong views
about prayer in school, abortion, sex-ed in schools and other social
concerns.

To find out about "Reagan In His Own Voice" and other issues Reagan spoke
about in the newly released tapes...

I believe it. I was a big fan of President Regan due to the fact that he believed that no government has the right to insert itself into the personal lives of the people. The U.S. Constitution does not give that power to the U.S. government (regardless of what most politicians think).

However, being against having something be illegal does not imply that he was for it (and I do not know his stand on using pot). He believed that the government should not (and could not) legislate morality.

"Morality is not defined by popular opinion"

He deserves what he got, the guy criminalizes something that isn't any more harmful than a beer, destroys the school lunch plan, etc etc. I could go on and on, but the boss is walking around, he gets my vote for the WORST president ever closely seconded by BJ Billy C

And how many deaths are attributed to alcohol every year? Seems it may be the most deadly drug in use today.

It's never going to happen ..

The drug cartels won't allow marijuana to be legal ... the United States is their best customer

I heard they might be legalizing it in Canada because they can't stop the use of it, and the government isn't making anything off of it.

Cannabis is available for medical purposes ( but its half assed weed, and its better if the patients are well enough to grow there own). I have family members in Canada that are using for med. purposes, so I'm not getting that from the media, but its also well documented in cannabis culture mag, pot-tv, etc.

There are a couple of cases that are being presented in front of the supreme court of canada that is sure to change the laws that are currently outlawing the use of cannabis. Of course, in the 70's I believe it was, the canadian paliament almost legalized cannabis. They ended up going on vacation and didn't take it back up when they got back.. thats to bad really.

Its about time the Cannabis was relegalized. Its been 70 some odd years now and its really just insane to send people to jail for something thats less harmfull than tobacco or alcohol. There are a lot of possitive things coming out now regarding cannabis, just look at the medical studies being done in the UK, its amazing really.

I personally am a hardcore supporter of the relegalization of cannabis. Jesus ( debateable, but so is everything else in the bible ) used it, Shakespear used it, the beatles used it, Bob Marley used it, heck, some of the greatest minds of all time have used it.

Ok, I could go on and on, but im taking this way off topic.. I just get excited about this.. im off.

Because then alcohol companies will start complaining, and before you know it, it will be outlawed.

Because if its legal, the price will drop, and also, how can USA justify put marines in Colombia, Venezuela, etc?

Not that it would surprise me if they were, but are you saying the US is sending out Marines, because people are getting high on life?

LOL, no, I mean, that if drugs are legal, what will be the excuse to send US Marines to Colombia?

Well, thats mostly for cocain and whatnot.. Most of the good Cannabis comes from BC in Canada, if I'm not mistaken.. some of the best Bud in the world ( even beats Amsterdams, full of fertilizer crap bud [ok, not all of it] ).
