DME-Geoff 02-20-2006, 04:51 AM NameCheap and GoDaddy offer domain registration for around $9 per year USD for a dot com. Yahoo offers domain name registration for $2.99 per year but I'm not sure what the service is like. vores 02-20-2006, 10:43 AM it's not easy to move domain from Yahoo in case if you want to register domains for sale :) Stan Marsh 02-20-2006, 12:45 PM There's one answer - NameCheap. Avoid GoDaddy (because of humilating TOS), Yahoo (lack of service), RegisterFly (multiple issues, lack of service including), IpowerWeb (multiple, SEVERE issues). If your budget isn't very tight, Moniker and Stargate would be nice possibilities also. Good luck!!! Patrick 02-20-2006, 02:54 PM I have a few domains with 1&1.com and they aren't that bad of a company... support is slow as hell, but you get what you pay for. I'd recommend them, or GoDaddy. Masud 02-20-2006, 03:44 PM I still prefer Registerfly over other domain registrars! They are going through some support issues these days but I am sure they'll get out of it. Stan Marsh 02-20-2006, 03:55 PM I still prefer Registerfly over other domain registrars! They are going through some support issues these days but I am sure they'll get out of it. I think the issues aren't only with the support, but they have SEVERE issues with their system as the whole. One of the examples, encountered by me: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=483651 waverunner 02-20-2006, 04:51 PM There's one answer - NameCheap. Good luck!!! can you outline you problems with ipower? i see they are $2.95 w/privacy included as was just about to register 15 domain names with them. thanks Stan Marsh 02-20-2006, 06:16 PM can you outline you problems with ipower? I personally have no problems with them, because I am wise enough not to use them. Use 'search' function (a little button at the top right corner of your screen) for some horror stories. The only thing I can say that if company is selling something (domains in this case) *WAY* below the cost, they are doing this for a reason and wouldn't part with the lost money so easily... Good luck! waverunner 02-20-2006, 08:44 PM hehe, love you comment 'wise enough not to use them' - where is my slap button lol im afraid im gonna have to be stupid and try them. dont hate me when i come back to complain. its just that i have around 20 names to register. i know what you're thinking! stop that! technanny 02-20-2006, 08:50 PM Waverunner I listen to feedback from others when appropriate. I also realize there is substantial conflict of interest asking people for opinions on domain registrars in a domain forum. Some people are quite truthful, many are not(it seems many are so). At $2.95 each x 20, you have little to lose. best wishes RossH 02-20-2006, 08:53 PM im afraid im gonna have to be stupid and try them. dont hate me when i come back to complain. its just that i have around 20 names to register. You'd honestly have no reason to complain as you have been fore warned... waverunner 02-20-2006, 09:10 PM i agree! but ill give feedback - thats what makes this forum so powerful :D taherk 02-20-2006, 11:31 PM Depends on which tld you are looking at, for co.in & .in domains whiz.in is cheapest it also has .info at $1.75 Stan Marsh 02-21-2006, 02:09 AM Depends on which tld you are looking at, for co.in & .in domains whiz.in is cheapest it also has .info at $1.75 Is it allowed to advertise on this board? vsnry 02-21-2006, 04:04 AM godaddy is def the best. and start at $7.99 from memory? Stan Marsh 02-21-2006, 04:08 AM godaddy is def the best. I simply can't imagine how people in their right mind, after reading their TOS, can buy something from GoDaddy. stub 02-21-2006, 07:37 PM How much do ipower charge for transfering a domain away from them? Do ipower include url/email forwarding and dns management at that $2.95 price? just-my-opinion 02-21-2006, 08:52 PM If you buy a domain name at iPower the fee is $2.95 today but it has gone up and down several times in a few months. The $2.95 fee is a one time deal if you want to renew it next year the fee is $8.95 (which they clearly state on their page). However, and this is the kicker here, if you want to leave iPower and transfer your domain name to another company you have to pay a $20 if you want to renew the domain name an additional year. imho if you are sure you are only going to use them for registration and plan to just keep those domain names as page holders, please do so if not run away as fast and as far as you can. nfh77 02-22-2006, 10:42 PM I currently have two domains registered with GoDaddy, but one of them is about to expire. I'm thinking of moving that domain to 1and1, but I don't know if that will be a good idea, although they're less expensive than GoDaddy. Would you recommend 1and1 over GoDaddy? And what is so special about the GoDaddy's TOS that everyone mentions? And how about NameCheap.com? How do they compare with GoDaddy in terms of features? stub 02-23-2006, 12:45 AM Of the three... NameCheap. Jlegrand 02-24-2006, 07:42 PM I would look around at the different forums, seems like some of the low cost providers can really give you problems especially if you want to transfer the domain out. |
