Hey guys and gals...I am new here so I thought I would put my 2cents in..

Not going to make this long, but a few days back I decided to sign up with a company:

http://www.gisol.com

Boy was I wrong. What a waste of space for a business. No I am not mad, just frustrated and want to share with you as guidence not to look into hosting with them. Yes, I have been burned. It has been many years since I have wanted to look for another hosting serivce. And that was a hard task and I narrowed it down to a few companies.

I then signed up with GISOL, and it was a bad decision from the getgo. They take your money and run! So far no refund yet, but I am reporting this service and will file many reports if I am not given a refund.

There number is a sale front, their is NO tech support as they say they have. And every day is a sale promotion day. (I bought into that) LOL... Anyhow, it has been a webmasters night mare isnce the start.

Just beware of their practices! I will keep you guys posted on the out come.

--------------------------------
On another note....

I am looking into a few web sites and want to hear from all of you on what you think.

These are who I am looking into right now..

http://www.hostrocket.com
http://www.ipowerweb.com
http://www.powweb.com
http://www.fastwebsites.com

I would appreciate any good and bad reports on them or on ones your with and who you might sugggest. Important to me is TECH Support ar at least some that will answer emails or a phone calls.

Thanks for listening,
Kozy

Never heard of any of them with the exception of Host Rocket.. Do a search and you will find what you are looking for.

What about your service?

I see you have okihost.com, and I looked at the site and had just a few questions to see if you have them of not.

Can you answer a few question for me? or do i need to go to the site?

Thanks

Fastwebsites.com seems to be the only clean reputation one on the list. The others have had problems ranging from ignoring spam complaints, to outright not having any customer support.

hostrocket is the biggest out of all of them, but their customer service satisfactory rate as I've seen, is below average. They also host a lot of spammers.

Stay away from Powweb.com
Powweb and their less than attentive Customer service (http://groups.google.com/groups?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&scoring=d&q=powweb+group%3Anews.admin.net-abuse.*&btnG=Google+Search)

My experience with Hostrocket was a negative one that does not need to be reiterated, ya get what you pay for.

If you are serious about running a site, do not find one based on price.

Hi Kozy,

Sorry to hear about your experince with gisol.com. Just to let you know, okihost.com isn't able to give you details on his services becuase it is against forum rules. If you have questions you should contact him via his web site.

I hope this is helpful :) Good luck finding a host.

with any of the above so can't help you there.

But a good rule of thumb is that if the price is too good to be true it is.

Running a hosting business cost money shop for one like you would a used car ask questions and realize that inorder to provide service the host has to charge enough to pay help and still make a profit.

If it says unlimited Bandwidth or Space >RUN

Figure bandwidth at it lowest cost .50 a gig so anyone offering you 10 gigs for 4 bucks is not going to be able to offer you good service.

How long have they been in business, go to internic and do a whois on the name, find out how long they have had it registered. Ask them how much experience they have.

Once you are happy with the answers ask them for a trial account for 15 days, a good host will give you that or a money back promise.

Good luck in your search it is a jungle out there.

Not quite true. A host can answer questions about their service on this forum is asked directly. You are not allowed to offer up any extra information for the casual surfer's benefit though.

I thought this would violate the rules so we just ended up emailing each other.. Thats good to know though.

Kozy,

You can always try to get your credit card company to authorize a charge back. Technically if they did not offer what they promissed then I think there would be good grounds for that. This is if they offer credit card payments and you paid with a Visa or Master Card.

Ok, well after a long day on this issue. I thought I would take a sec to let you guys know what the deal is.

I have done my research, but I guess not good enough. A few hours ago I looked up the company on the BBBonline website and guess what??? MANY other's have complained. Dang my luck! I trusted and got burned..

Anyhow I did file with my credit card as well as two complaints with the BBB both locally in his area and on-line. It turns out they have been known to not credit back nor ever respond to any emails. And of course no phone calls since their phones are just recordings changed twice per day for a sales tactic (I fell prey to that one...LOL)

Well we will just give them some more time at this point. They have my complaint in many emails and a letter via the postman and and reports that have been filed.

I really hated to do this, but when you pay $119 for a year of service, you expect to get what you paid for and since they stated that they will call me before my account would ever be setup (they never called and I was setup). It just goes to show us all that we can fall prey to bad business practices.

In the end guys.. I am looking for a new host. Thanks to the many of you for your suggestions. I had about 20-30 to start with and now down to a few. It is hard to make the right one. I just have too many sites I will need to move and I need to find the right one for them all. Lucky me I only moved one to this www.gisol.com host.. LOL

As soon as more info comes to me about this host, I will let you all know.
Thanks for listening!

I thought I'd heard that name before... Try Google:

Makes for some interesting reading.

Thank guys for all the replies.

It goes to show we just need to do our home work a little more before we jump in. I looked but jumped without seeing where I was jumping into.

I have read a LOT on the net about this company and will take it all the way. Even though it may take some time, in the end, all they have to do is refund me. Simple yet, they love to ignore and cause more porblems. I was just not aware that so many had been burned.

FYI..
So far there have been 43 cases with the BBB, 7 which were major complaints.
377 reports on the net that i have counted so far, from people that were scammed or ignored and never got any money back from GISOL. I will get my refund, My attorney will make sure of it!

Last thing... There are losts of scammers out there, both persoinally and professionally. What needs to happen is we all just keep doing what we are doing and that is reporting to others the good and the bad or the ugly for that matter. We all are here to help and be recognized.

Thanks again guys and gals..

I am currently with hostrocket and no problems to report. Their customer service gets a 8/10. They will usually reply to your query within a day. I am currently looking into moving to www.cyberpixels.com. they seem like a wonderful company and offer lots for less. i am still debating the move. hope ya get a good host........

oh, fastweb sites and hostrocket's design were both made by the same company, so don't get fooled just because of their layout, the have a nice design but i hear their service at that good.

Well just an FYI for you guys...I found a host and signed up with them...

I had narrowed it down to three hosts.

http://www.dominet.net
http://www.racknine.com
http://www.cyberpixels.com

I chose the last one Cyber Pixels. They have been very supportive and fast responses.

Unfortunately my last host GIS has not responded to any thing yet. But my credit card has filed "Theft of Services" and I was contacted by the BBB about my complaint. Turns out they lost count after 100 complaints the past 2 months

But I will keep you posted as I get any news.. Just beware guys,
DO NOT sign with Global Internet Solutions!

Ya bud,
Kozy

Fastwebsites.com clean or not, they have a fault, don't know if it's on purpose or that it is a fault, but it is one, they say at the Pro plan on the image 12gb for 29.95$, but if you look at the details they say 6gb.

Also if you look at their advanced plan you see on the picture 9gb transer but on the details only 6gb transfer.

Also their eCommerce2 plan has on the image 12gb transfer, but if you look into the details they mislead you a bit by saiying they give you unlimited hits (but still 12gb traffic). Don't know if they mean here unlimited hits and 12gb traffic for downloads and images but i doubt it.

Sounds like you've narrowed your search down but, I thought I would add another provider into the mix:

www.uplinkearth.com

I just switched to them after having some issues with ImHosted.com. ImHosted seemed like a great deal with their promotions however, the seem to be struggling on the support side as far as turn-around times and organization.

Uplinkearth had my account setup within an hour of signing up and they had my additional domains added 30 mins later. Their customer service so far is responsive, knowledgable and most importantly helpful.

They were even proactive enough to advise when they would be doing maintenance on their servers - so I could be aware.

Anyway, time will tell how they perform. So far I recommend them if you are looking for hosting on a Windows NT platform.

Cheers.

The only one on the list ive tried is hostrocket and i wouldnt recommed them at all if you want good support. Most of the time, when you sent in tickets, they are not replied to, and if they do reply, it seems as if the person who answered it hasnt even read your question properly.

I know how you feel when you say you got burned. Go on the hosting request forum and post what you require. You will be able to get a better discount. I recommend jatol.com, and dim8.net. They have been nothing but help towards me.

Guys I finally got a reply from the company for my refund! YEAH!

I did have to threaten them with a law suit and of course all the other work I did to file complaints. But in the end it all paid off...

Just beware and do your homework! Re-search your NEW host before you go with them!

I am now with a new host and could not be happier of the support and services I am getting. Even though the traffice ping times are a tiny bit slower, it is good to know I am at home with someone I can trust and get GREAT service from.

Feel free to keep posting your comments...
See ya later..

I've very very very frustrating experience with IPowerWeb! Don't trust their e-mails support. Imagine waiting three weeks (after sending them requests via three e-mails) without a single reply!! I already terminate the service with them...and guess what, they reply to this termination request e-mail damn fast! I'm in Singapore, I guess it will be either impossible or troublesome to make them refund me the $$$ (which I paid for the whole year!). Just my LUCk!

I would recommend checking out hostrocketsucks.com to get an opinion on hostrocket. Don't know much about them personally but I have read this.
