this is question that has been going around my head for a few days, i have read comments about this, but in a vague way, or just on the run, not really a topic about this. from the clients side which is the best choice to develop a site, a one person or a company with 2 or more heads?
to me it is good to have one person dedicated to you, but we know that it is imposible! that is because that freelancer will always be looking for more work. i guess he/she keep them self busy with 3-4 jobs at a time. so because of this, i can say, well if the company has more than two people they will work more on my project if they have the same amount of projects as just a freelancer. and probably they will give me more of a wide range of options to the project.
what do you prefer?
:lovewht:
lol, a good project should not invlolve much attention from a developer after its finished IMHO. and you dont have any guarantee that a company will not be busy making lots of project, i've freelanced a lot and worked in a company and it wasnt different i suppose ( in terms of how much work i had )

why you said this? im talking about when choosing an individual or group for your project. which is the best choice for the client?
depends on the company or the individual :] me for instance, i never take too much work if i cant do it in a reasonable time. its the quality of the product you want to get that really matters i think.

but then, what is reasonable to you, it will might or might not be reasonable to your client. that's when they come here and make on the subject " stay i away from X" or "X is not good, X does not wants to give me back my money"
thats the reason it should clearly stated what client wants and wat clients get - that there are no mistunderstanings.

I'd go for an individual with a nice portfolio...

Elfalso,
Your argumentation is not very appropriate, I think. If a group of developers is a company, then they normally have more work than a single freelancer, because a company normally is a former single freelancer who got more and more jobs, and then hired a few other guys to help him.
:-)
And, in general, the approach to find a developer who has little job is not the right solution because it may take you away from the best professionals.
Freelancers in general are cheaper than companies for evident reasons.
On the other hands, freelancers are good for projects that require expertise in 1-3 fields only. If your project requires expert knowledge of 6-7 fields, then the probability that the given freelancer will know all those fields is not high.
