View Full Version : I need help :) I am looking for a VPN server.
Georgi 02-16-2006, 03:18 PM | Hello,
I really need a VPN server I need it for about 10 people of my stuff. Can you advise me where I can find one. Because I am very confused most of the popular companies offer unmanaged hosting and I can not setup a Linux server by myself. I have found a solution but they want about 100 for this 100 for that 150 for that and $400 only for server with 10 VPNs I think it is too expensive.
Thanks :) |
Lpal-Patrick 02-16-2006, 03:34 PM You mean VPS.
What is your price range? You do you really need a VPS? You can go with semi dedicated. |
Georgi 02-16-2006, 03:43 PM | I think that it should be about $100-$200 I think that semi dedicated should be fine but the question is where? |
Georgi 02-16-2006, 04:11 PM I don't know how it is called but I want to connect through a VPN connection to the server :( and to use the servers internet connection. |
VapoRub 02-16-2006, 04:23 PM Are you trying to use the server to browse the web for you via a proxy? You can do that with your own dedicated server. You can also get a Win2k3 Stnd Server and login and use the servers browser ;) |
Georgi 02-16-2006, 04:30 PM Yes something like this but please tell me which hosting company provides this services? And I am not very fluent in win2003 administration :( |

They have fully managed servers. Contact them on the livechat during sales hours and ask them if they can do that vpn thing for you.
axishost.com- They are another fully managed company, send a emaill to their sales and tell them what you need. |
PSAMaster 02-17-2006, 12:14 AM I know a place where you can get a managed server for 139.00 a month |

Helpful...mind sharing it with the OP then?
You should definitely be looking at a fully managed server, don't just go 3rd party if you can help it. Liquidweb.com and Eleven2.com are two quality managed providers. |
Georgi 02-17-2006, 01:09 PM THanks for the help I am contacting with them now :) |

nocassist 02-23-2006, 11:59 PM vpsnet.com is a good one....but I can't reach their site :( |
tical 02-25-2006, 05:52 AM You can terminate VPN sessions on any Linux or Windows machine. I'd recommend finding a small agile dedicated server provider who also sells systems administration. Tell them you want to pay a one-time fee for setting up your VPN termination, with instructions on how you can add/delete users yourself. This should be the best cost scenario for you. |
Georgi 02-26-2006, 11:54 AM Thank you very much for the information :) It was very helpful. |
dkitchen 02-26-2006, 01:01 PM As others have said you sound like you need a fully managed solution. If the above pricing was too expensive, do you have a budget, and where will most of your users be connecting from?
You also need to make clear - do you want to use NAT and have all your clients share the same public IP as the server, or assign VPN clients their own public IP's ... as you'll need to take this into consideration when purchasing. |
