View Full Version : monthly/quarterly/yearly pricing
appletreats 05-06-2002, 08:48 PM If you offer quarterly/yearly pricing in addition to monthly, how do you determine the price discount for the longer periods (assuming you discount the price...). Do you only charge for 10 months for yearly? Stuff like that is what I want to know...
Q(O_o)--O 05-06-2002, 08:59 PM Hello, appletreats that is a very good question as i would like to know this myself, but my best bet would be some kind of percentage interval. :)

That is excatly how we handle our discounts.
12 months = 10xFee
6 months = 5xFee
We don't do discounts for quartly, but I guess you could do 3 months = 2xFee.
Hope that helps. :)
Alan - Vox 05-06-2002, 09:41 PM 12 months = 10xFee
6 months = 5xFee
then whats the advantage of paying for year?
should do something like
12 months = 10*monthly fee
6 months= 5.5*monthly fee
3 months = 2.85 * monthly fee.

Those are nice.
On a somewhat related topic, one month is monthly, three months is quarterly, and twelve months is yearly. But what is six months? Halfyearly?

You pay for 10 get 12
You pay for 5 get 6 etc...
BTW we also offer this.. Some offer more some offer less but I would say this is probably the average.
TopDog07 05-06-2002, 10:19 PM Is it true that by offering say yearly pricing (While there is a benifit) you also stand a more risk of fraudulent orders because of that?

That is what I meant... x month fee. Forgive me!
I don't think I get any more fraudlant orders, than any other hosting biz. Most of the fraud order I get are just to test the credit card, to see if it is working. Funny thing, I just use a checker to see if the numbers match the type of card. If they try it at a real place that checks it against IP address and Mailing address it will fail. So that is my teaser for them. :)

ADEhost 05-07-2002, 12:50 AM well what I have done is rather simple.
I offer 3 6 12 month plans
3 month = 3% discount
6 month = 6% discount
12 month = 12 percent discount
rather easy and it is cost effective
plus it keeps the revenue stream in line with what I need.

MrLister 05-07-2002, 01:13 AM We just offer annual. We don't do any semi annual. It's pretty much 2 months free if you prepay for one year.
TopDog07 05-07-2002, 01:59 AM Is this a feasible option (offering yearly, etc) for a reseller?

What Alan (Splashhost) was saying is that with:
12 months = 10xFee
6 months = 5xFee
-there's no advantage/incentive to sign up for 12 months. Pricing for both terms is the same: buy 5 get one month free, or buy 10, get 2 months free. Might as well just sign up for 5 months at a time.
