well Ive been trying out Cerberus, and i have to say for a mom and pop style company that deals with around 45 customers it way to advanced..
What i mainly looking for is
save comments about a customer
php/mysql
send an email upon update from support@blah
allow registration
any ideas?

Hey there,
Check out Hot Scripts - there's quite a few support scripts available.
http://www.helpdeskreloaded.com is a simple open source support script - isn't the prettiest around but I'm sure you could edit it easily.

your right.. that wasn't very pretty :)
i like to ask before i try with peoples data, never know what the script does until its a bit to late

Kayako eSupport is pretty simple too use, both client and admin end. It does allow you too add comments too tickets and is quite simple if you want to search for previous tickets from that customer. SupportSuite from Kayako which is a little more advance (and expensiver) allows the customer to have a unique login ID.
