Cerberus Helpdesk - www.cerberusweb.com. It's free for one email address being piped in (e.g. support@yourdomain.com) and comes with viewable source. You'll be hard pressed to find anything better than it for free :)

If you need more than one email address being piped in on a budget, I'd recommend SitePanel3 for only $97 or so depending on the exchange rate, which has lots of features, a nice UI, and great support.

I'll just mention osTicket... It's ok, but Cerberus free edition (1 email) offers much more.
