View Full Version : Our LAST SPECIAL OFFER - Colocation
StarGate 05-06-2002, 07:38 PM ***** THIS OFFER IS REVOKED! *****
After several conversations, mainly with Jay from PWEBTECH it seems that my offer is damaging his business.
I value all my competitors, even those who are famous in bashing other hosts for their own selfish eagerness, and therefore damaging them is not an option to me.
The two lucky customers (one new, one from existing dedicated server) I HAVE to put on NAC ("pure" NAC) as promised in 8-10 days (provided that their machines arrive in a timely manner). I will post their IPs then with their permission so everyone can see that Robert Prost is NOT A LIAR.
Now as to my dear competitor PWEBTECH who also tried to put up one of my clients against me by "providing" him false tracerts which took a long IRC chat with my staff to clear up, I just have to say that your childish and immature business manners that I can only justify partly by your small age, will not be forgotten.
I totally understand/understood your point and apologize for having good deals with providers that you obviously don't have or you claim so to cover up a huge profit made off your clients.
What I DO NOT UNDERSTAND is that you took these issues out into the public, displaying your infinite foolishness to the whole WHT community.
I am very sad to see people in business that obviously should not be... but we see THAT all the time, don't we?
Regards
Robert Prost

Dear WHT folks,
now it is the time to start the actual core of our business which is COLOCATION. Having over 15 dedicated servers running now, all of them by happy and satisfied customers, gives us the confidence we need to convince you that we are the colocation provider you have been looking for.
This is a special offer, the last one, and after that all services (dedicated and colocation) will only be available for normal pricing which is ~20% higher then the pricing in the Special Offers.
We have 5 U spaces to sell. The datacenter and bandwith is NAC (Level3/UUNet) where "downtime" is a foreign word.
Pricing per month:
80$ per U space and
160$ per dedicated mbit
Special Offer: If you buy 2mbits (recommended) you get them for 240$ total, 120$ per mbit, which is also the price for every extra mbit after 2.
You can pay with all major credit cards and/or PayPal.
Signup Page:
Please email us at mail@stargate.hm for quotes, info and shipping.
You can ping/traceroute to range 64.247.34.0 or 64.247.35.0
This is the LAST SPECIAL OFFER
Waiting for your orders ;)
To your "replies":
I never said that stargate.hm is part of the connectivity that I offer. I have my site stargate.hm on Cogent cause I do a very large Anon-FTP and push around 12 TeraBytes per month. Also DCJN is a PART of what we use and NOT for the colos that we offer here, although DCJN is perfectly allright...
Also we are NOT a reseller of anyone. I own a datacenter and New York (NAC) and soon Denver (Cogent/Yipes) cause I am buying up a dedicated server business there.
The colos are on NAC I repeat on NAC which for "normal mortals" costs 250$ per mbit sometimes but not for us cause we bought a 4 year old contract with NAC along with the company we bought and we have VERY special conditions.
porcupine 05-06-2002, 08:14 PM Last special offer... ever? Or until next week? I could never offer that, because i love specials hehe
jayglate 05-06-2002, 08:16 PM Please be correct in your posting. You are on DCJN, where level3 and UUnet are not part of the network. Maybe on traceroutes in which is the way it was designed but on actual usage all outbound traffic for DCJN is limited to their 70Plus peers and cogent.
MikeA 05-06-2002, 08:23 PM Good point. Doing a tracert to stargate.hm I go through Cogent. 23 hops to be exact.
cbaker17 05-06-2002, 08:28 PM Perhaps that correction in the form of a im or email to your reseller would have been a little more constructive then that post for the public to see. Im sure it was a mistake as NAC has many providers.
jayglate 05-06-2002, 08:29 PM Thats not the reason, and he isn't a reseller of mine. The reason was is he is pushing DCJN off as standard NAC bw which isn't the case and is wrong to do so.
BMurtagh 05-06-2002, 08:31 PM ping -c 5 64.247.34.0

jayglate 05-06-2002, 08:54 PM Just be truthfull in your statements.
You are selling DCJN bandwidth out of Telehouse NYC, where NAC has a pop.
hostnet 05-07-2002, 12:15 AM He is not denying that he has DCJN, but for this offer he is saying PURE NAC bandwidth. NO COGENT.
jayglate 05-07-2002, 03:11 AM To tell you truth. I would belive it when i see it. The ip blocks used to trace all all dcjn blocks. and i highly doubt it is pure nac and not dcjn.
BiGWill 05-07-2002, 06:11 AM jayglate,
i'd say he posted the wrong ip's to trace to/or hasn't got any system at the Level3/UUNet block yet.
LogicBrendan: these ip's don't seem to be binded to any machine. so you won't get any ping reply.
back to the offer ...
very nice one, i'm sure you'll get them sold ShareFile!
good luck :)

I find it extremly hard to find an offer this cheap using pure nac bw...

i'd say there ain't any.
i wouldn't believe this either, if i wouldn't know that the Company ShareFile bought, must have had a good contract with NAC, as they hosted some bandwidth intensive free-services (like two BIG IRC Servers)
so i believe they got a very good deal from NAC and now ShareFile just took it over ..
so he's able to offer this at those prices!

Reread what Jayglate had to say

DCJN does not route outgoing traffic through Level3/UUNet but through other smaller providers.

Chicken please close this thread.
hostnet 05-07-2002, 09:57 AM Jay thinks that just because he pays a higher price, everyone else should have to.
Nice way to treat a competitor. "Your paying less, so you must be LIEING". I'm sure after people have seen the way you have gone on and on about something so stupid, they will think twice about trusting you with their servers.
If he was lieing people will post when they get their colo's up. Not for you to decide.
:puke:Jay
dektong 05-07-2002, 11:20 AM OK, I got really confused. I originally thought ShareFile is a customer/client of Jay, well ... I guess not. I will be very interested to hear/listen/learn the follow up to this matter.
BTW, tracerouting to the IP block given above (though still not binded) does show that the packet went into DCJN. From talking to Jay, he informed me that this is not the case, DCJN may accept incoming traffic from Level3/ATT/UUNet (and all the top providers) but won't route the outgoing traffic (which is the most important for webhosts) through them. Now, whether DCJN route outgoing traffic via Level3/ATT/UUNet (and all the top providers) I still want to know.
cheers,

BiGWill 05-07-2002, 11:32 AM hey dektong,
if you would have read through his previous offers you would have this information:
[...]
last week I bought eXscape Communications - the former provider of my upcoming Hosting/Dedicated Service - and I am happy to announce some special offers which are directed to YOU people exclusively, 8 days before we officially start selling dedicated servers and more.
The datacenter is NAC (www.nac.net) and the connectivity is therefore multi-homed. I have taken over all remaining client base
[...]
you could also do a search on the forums - i believe there was a thread about exscape filing chapter11 or sth. like that.
just found it:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43889&highlight=exscape
and here the reason why he can make it that cheap:
The colos are on NAC I repeat on NAC which for "normal mortals" costs 250$ per mbit sometimes but not for us cause we bought a 4 year old contract with NAC along with the company we bought and we have VERY special conditions.
Edit:
heh, i don't get it, why everyone's so fixed on these ip's ... he stated that these aren't the ones which are pure NAC bandwidth. he'll further stated that he'll post the right ip's, with confirmation of his costumers, when their machine's are online.
greets,
TimPD 05-07-2002, 01:52 PM Let me jump in here and clear this up. If you choose COGENT as your provided out of DJCN then you can. However,StarGate - Excape didn't choose Cogent as a provided. Jay, said by doing a trace out it will show Cogent on this network which is TOTALLY WRONG. Below is some traces OUT from a StarHost box.
