asterix 02-14-2006, 05:21 AM Anyone here running CS-Cart?
cs-cart.com
I'm interested in other's opinions of this software.
Even though it's fairly new it seems (on the surface) to be very polished looks-wise, and in it's operation, compared with some other carts in its price range.
I'm also a little concerned about the lack of contact details on their site - just being cautious before handing over my hard-earned...
Thanks in advance,
Asterix
bluedreamer 02-14-2006, 11:21 AM I believe it was developed by some ex X-cart developers, hence all the similarities.
internext 04-16-2006, 03:41 AM Xcart devs posted on CS-cart reviews at hotscripts that they are not affiliated.
Anyone use CS-cart and have an objective opinion?
Thanks
sknydave 04-16-2006, 09:16 PM You can download a demo which is pretty much fully functioning except for a few extras. I'm probably going to purchase it this week. I like it a lot and it has a lot of great featuers. I'd suggest making sure that they have a working payment module for your particular gateway. They don't have many at the moment, I think.
Lamaison 04-24-2006, 05:15 PM Anyone here running CS-Cart?
I purchased this cart about a week ago, after lots of research.
It's feature rich, easy to set up and so far I have yet to have it error a single time.
The current version is only 1.32 so for its young age this cart is got the features of a much more mature cart. And the new versions seem to be comming quickly. Also it is more attractive than most.
And yes, they has been posts suggesting that it is X-Cart, but X-Cart say no. But Cs-Cart does look a lot like X-Cart, but it is better looking. And so far the CS-Cart support is better than X-Cart. But then again most are.
toyable 04-24-2006, 10:16 PM Hi There,
I was curious how customizable the look of the cart was? I've heard that X-Cart is difficult to modify becuause it isn't very object oriented and the code is a bit all over the place.
I've DL'd the trial version, but haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
Thanks!
Lamaison 04-24-2006, 11:54 PM toyable,
It uses the Smarty template engine so if you know that tool then I guess it’s easy. I have only had it for a week or two and have not tried to change the layout yet. But it does have a few skins include with allows you to change the entire design with a quick selection in the admin. You can even change the design of the admin section. You can also toggle features you don't want display, and finally it has a template editor within the admin to allow you to change each element of the design piece by piece, like the footer, header etc.
bluedreamer 04-25-2006, 11:17 AM Yes X-carts templates are quite numerous but you can tweak just about everything given time/experience. Smart is quite a powerful feature!
Everything has a learning curve!
sknydave 04-26-2006, 09:52 AM I purchased it a few days ago. It's very easy to customize, easily layed out and you can do it from the control panel. Just load up the editor and replace whatever code or original template graphics you like.
I like it so far
coppilot 04-28-2006, 12:11 AM Very nice cart with a professional look without spending lots of money. I had a very hard time installing it but finally got through it. The interchangable templates is a very nice feature. I had Zencart for about 1 year and liked it since it was free and easy to use. Zencart is very hard to beat with it being free....CS Cart also has a great staff that will help you through anything as I found out trying to install my cart. The new version is out next week for those who may be interested.
toyable 04-28-2006, 11:26 AM Can someone who has access to the CS-Cart support forums post the list of new features available in the new version. I could read the thread title, but can't access the details.
Thanks!
Coeus 04-28-2006, 03:38 PM Right off the bat, after downloading their free trial version, i like the fact that they cleaned up the skins folder a bit. I think it should still use more work, but much better than x-cart's skin folder
Lamaison 04-28-2006, 03:40 PM This is UNOFFICIAL and subject to change by CS.
This is what I have learned will be in 1.3.3

toyable 04-28-2006, 11:19 PM Thanks for posting that! I'm interested in buying CS-Cart, but wanted to wait until the new version to start tearing it apart and modifying it. It seems like there is a big following of people that are starting to migrate over from X-Cart...
Hopefully we'll see some more third party modules being added for this cart...
