View Full Version : Reviews for HostForWeb ?
ihostfried 02-13-2006, 03:13 PM Hello,
I am considering using hostforweb as my my provider for reseller hosting. Anyone heard about them? Any reviews?
Thanks in advance.
icoso 02-13-2006, 05:26 PM I've been with them for about 3 weeks now and am not impressed. The Reseller CPanel is limited more so than other resellers and the server I am on has been listed on SPAMCop twice. Tech support gives short uninformed answers. I think tech support is farmed out to a server center but can't confirm that. I was promised that they would transfer some accounts for me then when I aksed them to do it , it was a big ordeal and they finally told me that that the person who answered my original inquiry concerning transfer (before I signed up) was wrong. I got the accounts trasnferred but it was difficult to get them to do it.
ihostfried 02-13-2006, 08:52 PM Do you still use them? Is there service fast and reliable but the tech support a little iffy? Or what do you think?
NeoGen 02-13-2006, 09:30 PM Have you searched WHT for reviews on hostforweb:

itwanabe 02-14-2006, 02:01 AM Hmm they are the only host I know that offers VPS's that guarantee 1024MB+.
All other VPS hosts I see only go as high as 756mb? Anyhow- they look good. Search the forums like NeoGen suggested. You'll get mix emotions!

icoso 02-15-2006, 07:27 PM IncognitoNetworks - I snet a support request inquiring about your services yesterday and did not hear anything back. I sent it to the support email link on your website.
thartdyke 02-15-2006, 11:33 PM It seems Incognito have some mail problems. I host with them, and sent an email to that address yesterday. Got a message that the message could not be delivered for 24 hours :crap:
Things have been a bit shaky on my account recently, though to be fair, when I asked about a refund after 2 days downtime a couple of weeks ago (failed disk) I was given a months refund immediately, no questions asked. The Terms of Service only specifies a prorated refiund, so they did go beyond the call on that one.
jmweb 02-15-2006, 11:59 PM Maybe you guys should start another thread on Incongito as this thread is obviously about HostForWeb :)

Digital2 02-16-2006, 06:41 PM Obviously, I cannot speak for everyone. Also, I am leasing hostforweb's most expensive dedicated server (Dual Opteron) so I have little need of their own support department. However, when I have needed them, they were there. They were very prompt and very polite. Is their support outsourced? I honestly cannot say for sure. In the end it doesn't really matter to me so long as they get the job done. I have noticed that I am normally dealing with the same two or three people when I communicate with them. I have had a very good experiance with them myself.
ihostfried 02-17-2006, 12:36 AM Anyone have experience with their reseller plans? I've heard good things from you guys about their dedicated servers and vps but what about the reseller plans?

Hi, I have own now 2 years reseller plan in HostForWeb and here is what I think:
+ Price
+ Features
+ Quickly support, real 24/7/365
+ Uptime
- Mail problems, solved all times
- Support is quickly but sometimes empty
So I think they are quit good choice. Maybe somebody else have different experiences, but thats what I have been get them.

zonemen 02-28-2006, 03:36 AM I'm on one of their reseller plans and over the past month or so the server we are on has got overcrowded or something, because I can only reach my site occasionally, all the other times it times out loading half the page.
ihostfried 03-16-2006, 07:05 PM Before I cancelled my reseller account from them I had a man e-mail me because HostForWeb messed up his dns and it was pointing towards one of my clients websites. My whois information is on the client's domain and the man contacted me saying that his client was upset with me for hijacking his domain and that all of his files had been deleted and that his client wanted to file a law suit against me.
I e-mailed him back explaining what I thought had happened and I contacted hostforweb for him and they restored everything. HostForWeb had deleted that clients files and replaced it with my clients files because they used the same login.
The problem was fixed but it was stressful.
kentcounty 03-17-2006, 12:46 PM I`ve been on their `reseller special` package for almost a month. I`ve found the service has been very good, with no downtime that I am aware of. A few days ago one of my sites was compromised, which was my old fault because I had left a folder permissions too high. Anyways, they went out of their way to help. They restored my site from a backup ( a week old at my request) so I could remove the problem script and worked with me throughout.
Support usually answers in about ten minutes, even during the middle of the night.
Their forums are a little bit quiet, but then that maybe because their is little to report. For the price 19.95, you get a lot for your buck and it`s not like they`re a newcomer or cheap budget host.
Serverextreme 10-09-2006, 10:40 AM So would you guys say there services is worth a try?
I was thinking of giving they a shot. The VP accounts sounds good
and the prices seems very affordable..
