hi,

How would u distrbute bandwidth between sites that u r hosting on one single ded. ? would u distrubute it evenly or u'll over sell on the assumtion that not all sites will consume their bandwidth.

Example (Numbers are fictitious)

Total Bandwidth/server : 40G/m
And I want to sell hosting packages with 2G/m for each site.

Am I limited to 20 sites/server or can I host more (ex. 100) on the above assumtion?

Greetings:

Most providers will sell you more bandwidth.

We found that if you pick solid hardware and that you have an average distribution of sites when it comes to functionality (such as static HTML, database-driven, etc.) that you can easily host 200 sites on Linux and Sun.

We do know of providers using more powerful boxes (SGI) where they hose 1,000 to 4,000 sites on the box.

Do some research on your own as to what you want to over, cost it out with your provider, and follow your plan.

Monitor your plan and make changes as necessary while keeping an open line of communication with customers and your hosting provider.

Thank you.
