One of our clients registered their domain with Lycos UK and now wants to move it to us. Unfortunately the EPP code is not visible in the account centre thing and Lycos support seem incapable of answering support tickets and phone calls placed by our client.

Has anyone got any tips, tricks or experience in getting a domain out of Lycos?

I dont see any specification regarding domain services listed on their TOS. You must wait for their support guys to answer. Maybe call them once again and see if it helps!
