View Full Version : Domains by 3Essentials.com!
jerjo 02-11-2006, 06:42 AM Does anyone have an account with those guys?
One of my clients has a hosting account with them. He registered his domain through them as well (they use Wild West Domains).
My email address is set as Administrative and Registrant email for the domain. I tried to transfer the domain to Namecheap but the transfer failed! Namecheap said the current registrar (3Essentials.com) has REJECTED the transfer!
The transfer email was sent to me by Namecheap and I've approved it (the normal procedure), but the current registrar REJECTED THE TRANSFER! Please not that the domain name status is active, not locked!
Can they do that?!
did you unlock the domain at 3essentials.com?
How old is the domain? If less than 60 days, it's still locked.

The domain was first registered on May 3 2005 and is NOT locked!
Lubeca 02-11-2006, 07:06 AM It's something I've come across with Network Solutions in the past.
My client's domains had been registered through a NetSol reseller. My client was down as registrant and admin contact, the domains were not locked, and my client had approved the transfers... yet NetSol rejected them. Apparently they had an additional approval process which involved the reseller, and they refused the transfer on the grounds that the reseller had not approved them. We complained to NetSol, we even complained to ICANN (who were useless as usual), to no avail.
The matter did, eventually, get resolved - but it took a long time and a lot of effort.

I don't understand who the domain belongs to?! I believe the domain belongs to the person who registered it in the first place not the company which registered the domain!!!
I should have be able to transfer my domain to another registrar at any moment I choose to! Right? I have never faced such problems with Enom in the past.
Have you asked them? What did they say?

Here's the response I got:
---------------------------------
Although domain registration is accomplished via our site and indicates 3Essentials, it is actually done through our domain registrar Wild West Domains.
In order to determine any problems with domain issues, i.e. transfers, registration extensions, account information, must be done through the registrar. The contact information for the registrar is indicated on the Confirmation email furnished by them. I have indicated that contact information below.

?!
So what did Wild West Domains support say?
jerjo 02-14-2006, 05:49 AM So what did Wild West Domains support say?
They said:
Thank you for contacting customer service. Please make sure your domain has not been updated in the past 60 days, as this will prevent it from being transferred.
60 Days?! Too Long! Isn't it?!
So you told them it hadn't been updated for 60 days, then what did they say?
Stan Marsh 02-14-2006, 08:04 AM WWD is a GoDaddy company and GoDaddy has 60-days-no-change-before-the-transfer (sorry about the name, but it express the thing quite well) policy. Search these forums and you'll see a couple of threads discussing this.
Obviously, now you're stuck to wait 60 days since the time you've changed any registrant details (including, but not limited to whois protection removal) untill you'll be able to transfer domain away.
Good luck and welcome to GoDaddy haters club!
dmaven 02-14-2006, 09:50 PM So does WWD inherit the same policy as GD? I would imagine they would have their own TOS
Yep. I think they do. I bought a domain which was registered at WWD and had to open a WWD account to get it pushed to me. I'd have preferred to pay the transfer fee :(
