So I have developed my own proprietary software to rival operations like rapidshare.de and others. It has worked out pretty well and it is growing at a steady rate without my promoting it.
I have been thinking of a way to grow the service faster, and without any out-of-pocket expense. Sometimes I get crazy ideas, and sometimes they are exactly that... crazy. Anyway, I thought I woyuld share my idea and ask some peopel I dont know their opinions on the matter who are in the industry of hosting.
First I was thinking of offering a franchise option. Basically, it would consist of ISPs hosting the software (protected from piracy of course) within their own network and within their direct control. The ISP would entireley be able to manage ad insertions such as google ad words and other PPC or PPI campaigns as well as control the volume of file distribution on their machines.
Basically I would setup deals with ISPs in an effort to grow my service. They win by controlling all the advertising on the sites and I win by keeping my overhead low and gaining the additional download memberships. Of course I would probably work it out that they would get a cut of the membership fees if the user subscribed originating form their franchised location and whatnot.
Anyway, I am just looking for some opinions on that matter. And would ISPs having a advertising platform like that; would that be valuable enough for them to want to take on a distribution point franchise.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
