I've never heard of you -- does that make you bad?
eddy2099 05-05-2002, 07:49 PM If you are referring to Availhosting.com , yes they are pretty helpful and responsive.
Jeremy helped me alot in getting my account set up and answering all my stupid questions.
No regrets moving to them. Pretty professional indeed.
2 thumbs up! :)

zoneindex 05-05-2002, 07:57 PM Never heard of them before.
freehtml 05-05-2002, 10:11 PM Hosting my site www.simrtk.com with their servers.
So far so good.
maxxim 05-06-2002, 05:35 AM I host astonsoft.com with them. Seems like guys are new in business. Very new, so I have to teach them (for example, although my plan allows anonymous ftp, it was not permitted by default. Our customers were 2 days upset, not able to update our software. Until Avail support "remebered" I need dedicated Ip for ftp to work. Very bad) .
My compliments though, they are quite responsive.
I still have unresolved problems with them, like whenever I send e-mail to my partner with e-mail on ..@astonsoft.com- the message is always being delivered only after 12 hours delay!!! (I get automatic mail system reply that message is not delivered within 12 hours. Later my colleague finally receives the message). This is very bad and ruins the business. Support has once replied, said everything is OK. But it is not. So I hope to get the problem solved or move out NOW.
So be ware!

meandean 05-06-2002, 09:59 PM I have to concur with Maxxim ... they are very responsive, very polite and very peristent. However, they are indeed a bit green when it comes to various escoteric intricacies of hosting. They also seem to be getting into that reactive (vs. proactive) state with regards to things like domain aliasing and other small irritants.
Still, they get on top of it within a short matter of time, and usually get it turned around ASAP. I think what they really need is a Unix g*ddess who can mother hen these systems and knows how to do the detail oriented stuff.
nsanden 05-06-2002, 10:58 PM We (www.greedyfools.com) signed up a few weeks ago. I talked to Jeremy on AIM before I signed up and finally when I did sign up he setup my account within minutes. Must admit the support is great too. Can usually catch them online but if not they answer emails fairly quickly.
Have I had any problems? Not until today. Site was down earlier today for about 10 minutes. Since then it was fine until about 2 hours ago and up until now, its down again.
To be honest though, I didn't sign up with these guys thinking my site would be up 24/7, support would be "fanatical" (they have no phone number), or the server would be extremely fast. Just look at the plans they offer. You can't expect a whole lot.
conma2cang 05-06-2002, 11:40 PM thx for your reponses guyx!
yup! i chatted to Jemery (i think ) thru the Sn avail corp!
he did answer all my stupid questions.....
for now the server is down 'cause i can't my ftp sever nor my site! just email them thru the availhosting help desk service! hopefully i'll get a response soon!
Avail 05-06-2002, 11:50 PM Hi,
The server in question has been down for approximately 2 hours. It is a network issue with our provider, (eservers) dv2, and I have been assured that it will be resolved soon. If it remains down for more than another couple of hours, I will credit the sites affected with a month of free hosting.

nsanden 05-07-2002, 12:01 AM I don't want a month's free hosting. I want my site up ;)
(Just being a tough customer)
conma2cang 05-07-2002, 12:04 AM wow avail replied in here!
ok! i'm waiting...:-) thx jeremy!
eddy2099 05-07-2002, 02:20 AM
Looks like the problem is partially rectified. I am getting my emails now but still no web access as yet to my site on avail1.net .
I'll wait a little while more.
Edwin
maxxim 05-07-2002, 02:35 AM For example. whenever I sent e-mail to postbox on avail, I always get following message, which is no good. Support failed to explain anything (no reply within 24 hours). And I am moving out.
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim).
A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 48 hours on the queue on avail1.net.
The message identifier is: 174DW6-0000p0-00
The subject of the message is: Re:
The date of the message is: Sun, 5 May 2002 07:19:43 +0300
The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:
lab@astonsoft.com
No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for
some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message
remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up,
and when that happens, the message will be returned to you.
conma2cang 05-09-2002, 04:59 AM omg...the server is down again...
eddy2099 05-09-2002, 05:05 AM But it is back up again.
conma2cang 05-09-2002, 05:07 AM uh huh!
it is up again now!
conma2cang 05-09-2002, 05:34 AM oh no..it's down again...!:(
eddy2099 05-09-2002, 05:48 AM Yup, I noticed that too.
The last I checked the server was up and wasn't down during this time. Probably bad connection or something.
Maybe it is time to move my site out real soon. :bawling:
