Speakerguy 05-05-2002, 01:54 PM Wellp, here goes.
This is actually one of my home computers, my server I use for most of my websites is at rackshack... =D
However, I do serve a bunch of files off of this, and I do use it to run a TFC server at times. I also host a couple friend's sites off of it...
I have Apache, MySQL, PHP, ActivePerl, and PHPMyAdmin installed pretty securely... The connection is 768k verizon SDSL....
It is Dual 1500 Mhz Athlons (both overclocked to 1700 Mhz) with 1024 Mb RAM on Tyan Tiger s2460 mobo. The rest of the specs are pretty standard...ATI Rage Fury Pro video, 30 GB IDE/100 Maxtor HDD, SbLive Platinum sound, etc...
I am gonna upgrade to water coolers and a larger case soon
(which I am gonna mod like crazy so I own at lan parties =D)
(NOTE: at the time these pics were taken, I only had 512 Mb RAM in)

================
EDIT: Here is another, this one is of my computer/server area at home.
http://www.gamerz232.org/images/comp3.jpg
the laptop = 700 Mhz P3 toshiba, 128 Mb RAM
The main computer = (see above)
the comp in top right = 450 Mhz P3 running TurboLinux (256 Mb PC 100 Ram)
zdwebhosting 05-05-2002, 01:59 PM k i'll post it let me get my desk cleared off heh so give me a bit.

dont make fun of my old file server =)
richy 05-05-2002, 02:30 PM lol its actually a pic of a mate with his hampster , its not being squashed lol, its eating a nut just looks like its prayin. was the closest i could do to a pic of my puters for the moment most of em are either packed away or in many bits lol.
richy 05-05-2002, 02:33 PM lol so your the bloke who was posting on rackshacks forum about king comp :) hehe hows that server working out?
zdwebhosting 05-05-2002, 02:49 PM heh richy its goin great
i hit 44mb/s on it only got a screenshot of it on 42 1/2 though since i hit refresh :(
but www.wofut.com/speed/42Mb.jpg =)
----
but i pushed out 422 gigs on www.wofut.com/webstat on one site heh i hosted counter strike lol.
then my buddy has a site www.peterjun.com he was using like 800 g a month when he was limiting his site now he has put all his files on my box and has done 326 gigs in past 2 weeks :) http://ww2.peterjun.com/webstat
so @ 400 gigs a week so far its goin great =) especially when he is paying for most the server since i setup ,ftp, mysql, apache, php, all that =)
richy 05-05-2002, 02:55 PM nice if only theyd come to the uk lol. cant say id put customers on it until they had a couple of years under their belt and cogent learnt how to spell words like proffit and fiscal stability lol. thats still a pretty cool amount to push tho. im tempted to have one for backups etc. lol not wise to compare to rackshack tho, i mean i doubt rackshack put their servers on wooden shelves in an office lol. they use metal shelves right ;)
you got any ideas how other people on your switch are fairing? lol i guess your pushing about 5 mbps which if i remember right is a little more then your share. seems to be working out for tho and they certainly serve a purpose.
hehe nag me mid june for some pics and ill sort some :)
zdwebhosting 05-05-2002, 03:01 PM heh nah i am pushin @ 12mb/s right now :)
http://www.wofut.com/bw/ you can see it live upto the second :)
althought it drops and raises alot every few seconds since people quit d/lin and start d/lin etc....
Webdude 05-05-2002, 03:22 PM what script do you use for that live count?
zdwebhosting 05-05-2002, 05:31 PM its called bwbar =)
you will have to read the ./configure --help to have it make the upoad and download directories just follow the instructions :)
its C based.
Travis 05-06-2002, 08:00 AM Here's one of my new Dell PowerEdge 1650's - I love these things. 1U, three hot-swap drive bays, dual redundant power supplies, dual processor capable, and on-board RAID with 128MB cache. Great machines!

(Ignore the old 4U beast under it; it's not much good as other than a paperweight.)
aleavens 05-06-2002, 10:20 AM is that a new power supply for servers?
